We are seeking an adjunct instructor to teach PED 1046: Introduction to Weightlifting. This is a 1-credit class that meets for two 50-minute sessions /week. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. All faculty are expected to make active use of the learning management system (Canvas) at least at a minimum level established by the College.
The course description is as follows: This course will assist with the development of skills to promote participation in a weight training program. Students will use universal and free weights to develop strength and muscular endurance. The course covers concepts of form, repetition sequence, and provides a basic understanding of muscular and training techniques.
There is one PED 1046 section available. It is scheduled to meet as follows: Tuesday/Thursday, 11:00 am to 11:50 am.
Master's degree in exercise science or a related field is preferred.
Certification in strength and conditioning or another professional certification equivalent is required.
Experience teaching or coaching in person at the college level is preferred.
Experience creating lesson plans for lab/weight room activities and knowledge of various exercise equipment is required.
Strong computer skills is required. Experience using technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy is required.
Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to students through college online resources and digital tools is required.
Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas, our learning management system, and classroom media is required.
Expertise in learner-centered teaching is required. Experience and ability to work effectively with student body with a variety of learning styles, required.
