Full job description
You see the big picture, you’ve always worked on a grand scale, and now you’re ready to re-focus on grand impact.
Here's your chance to design and deliver efficient, customer-focused services that also enhance accessibility, sustainability and overall quality of living for more people than you've imagined.
In this role, you'll:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Technology Advisor to act as consultant to the business representing a central technology function within a large-scale government environment. This role represents the business in technology planning, prioritisation and governance forums, ensuring business needs, value, risks and operational priorities are clearly articulated and understood.
You will work closely with business executives and operational leaders to understand strategic objectives, clarify priorities and develop multi-year divisional technology strategies and roadmaps that reflect business needs, investment priorities, funding cycles, regulatory obligations and operational outcomes.
This is not a product management, delivery, architecture or solution design role. It is a business-facing technology consultant and partnering role that shapes demand, clarifies priorities and ensures technology initiatives remain aligned to business value, customer outcomes and organisational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the key interface between business divisions and technology teams, building trusted relationships with executives, operational leaders, project teams and technology SMEs.
Lead stakeholder engagement to translate business outcomes into clear technology initiatives, scope, success measures and Investment Briefs.
Develop and maintain strategic technology roadmap inputs aligned to organisational priorities, technology strategy, funding cycles and regulatory obligations.
Engage appropriate technology specialists, vendors and delivery partners so business context and options are understood before decisions are made.
Provide clear advice on stakeholder impacts, prioritisation trade-offs and decision points to support informed executive engagement.
You are an accomplished technology executive who brings a proven track record of steering large-scale portfolios and leading high-performing technical delivery functions.
Your background is built on a deep understanding of enterprise applications, modern cloud architectures, and seamless systems integration, all underpinned by a comprehensive mastery of end-to-end delivery lifecycles.
You excel at aligning technical capabilities with broader business objectives by deploying strategic workforce planning, driving team capability uplifts, and effectively managing diverse technical disciplines.
Required Experience
5+ years' consulting, strategy or technology partnering experience within technology, digital transformation, government or enterprise environments.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Engineering or Equivalent senior professional experience.
Strong experience engaging senior stakeholders and translating complex business needs into practical technology strategies, roadmap inputs and investment decisions.
Ability to navigate ambiguity, influence complex stakeholder groups and connect the right expertise without owning delivery, architecture or solution design.
Experience within government with a focus on technology required by major infrastructure, asset-intensive environments or customer-facing digital environments. (Highly Desirable)
The ideal candidate will bring a strong consulting mindset, business acumen and excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
You will be confident operating with senior leaders, synthesising complex business needs and representing business priorities in technology planning, governance and investment discussions.
You will understand how technology enables business strategy and operational outcomes, while being clear that this role does not own delivery, architecture or solution design.
