About Us
The Just One Project's mission is to increase access to food, resources, and supportive services to build a stronger, healthier, and more connected community. The Just One Project has a culture of attracting the most passionate and talented people to represent The Just One Project by reinforcing strong values, work life balance, and diversity. We know that our company culture ultimately affects client experience. Every program is designed with our clients in mind; we are "client-centric."
Everything we do is guided by our core values: Respect, Integrity, Innovation, and Compassion, and by our Gold Standard of service. We believe every person who walks through our doors deserves to be treated with the same care, dignity, and respect as you'd want for your own family, whether they're picking up groceries or asking for help with something much harder. We're looking for someone who doesn't just agree with these values, but lives them out in how they treat every neighbor they serve.
About the Role
As a Community Navigator, you'll be the first friendly face and first point of connection for community members walking through our doors, often on one of the hardest days of their week. You'll listen, assess what someone needs, and connect them to the right support quickly and with compassion, whether that's food, housing, healthcare, benefits, or employment resources. This role moves fast and matters deeply. You won't just be processing intakes. You'll be building the relationships, inside our programs and across the community, that make sure every neighbor who walks in gets connected to real help.
Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On weeks with a scheduled Pop Up & Give event, staff work a half day Friday and a Saturday shift instead of the standard Friday, or another adjusted day as approved by their supervisor. This occurs approximately 6 times per year.
What You'll Do
Be the welcoming first point of contact for walk in, phone, and referred community members
Conduct brief, compassionate intake conversations to understand immediate needs
Connect community members to the right internal programs and trusted external partners
Help with applications for benefits, identification, and other essential paperwork
Follow up to make sure the connection actually worked, and identify what else someone might need
Build strong relationships with community partners so referrals are fast and reliable
Step in with crisis support and connect people to emergency services when needed
Represent The Just One Project at community events and outreach, including 6 Saturday Pop Up & Give events per year
Keep accurate, timely records of every connection made
What You Bring
Associate's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field required, Bachelor's preferred, or equivalent experience
2+ years in nonprofit, human services, or a customer facing role
Fluency in English and Spanish
A valid, unrestricted Nevada driver's license and reliable local travel between sites and partner locations
Ability to obtain a Nevada Food Handler Safety Training Card within 30 days of hire
A client centered, trauma informed approach and genuine care for people from all walks of life
Comfort in a busy, fast moving, high traffic environment
A genuine connection to our mission and a commitment to living out our core values of Respect, Integrity, Innovation, and Compassion in your daily work
Compensation and Benefits
$23.00 to $25.00 per hour, based on experience. As a Staff Tier team member, you'll also receive:
Health, Dental, and Vision coverage
Additional insurance options including Life Insurance, AD&D, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, Short and Long Term Disability, and Pet Insurance
401k retirement plan with 3% employer match
Paid Time Off, accrued from your start date
2 floating holidays
Birthday Pay
Bereavement pay
8 weeks of paid parental leave
Over 6 weeks of paid holiday time off per year
