The Core Engineering at Goldman Sachs
The Core Engineering builds and operates the platforms, applications, data solutions, models, and analytics that power critical processes for the firm’s Risk, Controllers, Compliance, Corporate Treasury, Human Capital Management functions (The Core). A centralized engineering structure in support of The Core enables a common platform model and operating framework that promotes consistent governance and scalable solutions, leveraging cloud, AI, and machine learning for innovation and efficiency.
Non-Financial Risk & Controls Engineering is responsible for providing the Chief Risk Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, senior management, regulators, and other stakeholders with high quality non-financial risk information required to keep the firm’s activities within the defined risk appetite and comply with regulatory requirements. Our user base spans thousands of users globally. We partner with Risk, Compliance and other leaders across divisions, to fully understand the products, business strategies, and regulatory expectations. This knowledge enables us to build long-lasting software solutions, and to innovate with a purpose.
The Non-Financial Risk & Controls Engineering Product Management team is responsible for guiding products through all stages of their lifecycle, including research, design, scoping, delivery, promotion and post-launch monitoring. As a member of our team, you will partner globally across multiple divisions and engineering teams to create end-to-end solutions. You will be able to innovate and incubate new ideas, and you will learn and share knowledge across the organization. You will have an opportunity to work on a broad range of projects.
Your Role
As a VP in the Non-Financial Risk & Controls Engineering Product Management team, you will be responsible for product strategy and execution across a portfolio of products and strategic initiatives. You will partner directly with Risk, Compliance and Engineering teams to translate business objectives into scalable technology solutions that improve how risk and control function is managed across the firm.
You will be responsible for defining product vision, prioritizing investments, shaping roadmaps, and driving delivery outcomes across multiple risk and control platforms. This role requires strong product management expertise, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to translate complex processes into practical technology solutions.
Job Responsibilities
As a VP, you will:
Define and execute product strategy, roadmap, and prioritization across a portfolio of applications.
Partner with Risk and Controls and Engineering leads to understand business priorities and identify opportunities for technology-enabled improvement.
Drive all phases of the product lifecycle, including user research, current-state assessment, requirements definition, solution design, launch planning, adoption, and post-launch monitoring.
Rationalize business and user requirements across multiple applications, workflows, and stakeholder groups.
Develop expertise in risk and control, regulatory processes, data governance, or control frameworks.
Challenge and shape business requirements and product design decisions to ensure solutions are scalable, sustainable, and aligned to strategic objectives.
Drive prioritization, dependency management, trade-off discussions, and executive decision-making across competing initiatives.
Partner closely with Engineering teams to ensure business requirements are translated into clear and actionable technical outcomes.
Analyze user feedback, operational metrics, and business outcomes to continuously improve products and user experience.
Maintain visibility across the Engineering portfolio to identify opportunities for simplification, convergence, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities.
Develop executive communications, product updates, business cases, and roadmap presentations for senior stakeholders.
Represent product strategy and delivery progress in governance forums and stakeholder meetings.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Technology, Risk Management, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in product management, program management, strategy, transformation, risk management, or technology delivery.
Experience supporting Compliance, Risk, Regulatory, or Corporate Governance organizations.
Experience working with technology platforms, risk management platforms, entity management solutions, or contract management applications.
Experience modernizing legacy platforms or implementing workflow automation and AI-enabled solutions within Risk organizations.
Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into scalable technology capabilities.
Strong understanding of product management from strategy through execution, including functional design, delivery planning, testing, release readiness, adoption, and post-launch monitoring.
Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams without direct authority.
Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of initiatives, balance competing priorities, and drive execution in a dynamic environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify technical or process-heavy content for non-technical audiences.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes, frame decisions, and build consensus.
Ability to work well in a global, multi-tasking environment and under pressure.
Adaptability and comfort operating with ambiguity.
Preferred Skills
Experience in financial services, risk management and control functions, regulatory processes, data governance, or control frameworks.
Experience leading product teams that support enterprise platforms, workflow tools, data products, or AI-enabled capabilities.
Strong understanding of engineering delivery models, agile execution, product operations, and stakeholder governance.
Ability to connect product strategy to business outcomes, including efficiency, risk reduction, user experience, and scalability.
Experience simplifying complex operating models or technology portfolios.
Technical skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, backlog tools, data analysis tools, and product documentation platforms.
