The surgical technician facilitates invasive procedures by preparing sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment while maintaining an organized sterile field. They assist the surgical team during operations, handle specimens, and ensure patient safety through adherence to aseptic techniques and hospital policies.
Candidates must hold a certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C), or equivalent. An associate degree, vocational certification, or military certificate in surgical technology is required, along with at least one year of relevant perioperative experience.
Facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.
