Career Opportunity: Loan Closing Specialist with Cincinnati Development Fund in Cincinnati, OH
Are you a detail-driven problem-solver who wants your work to translate directly into new homes, nonprofits, and thriving neighborhoods?
As our Loan Closing & Servicing Specialist, you will sit at the center of the lending process, turning approved loans into closed deals and closed deals into well-managed, high-performing assets. You'll manage a dynamic portfolio spanning predevelopment, acquisition, construction, and permanent loans across affordable and market rate housing, community facilities, and other mission-critical community development projects.
This is a role for someone who takes pride in precision, thrives on juggling multiple moving pieces, and wants to build real, lasting relationships with borrowers, attorneys, loan officers, and community partners while advancing economic and community development. We're looking for a candidate with creativity, diligence, enthusiasm, a growth mindset, and a genuine passion for making a meaningful, measurable community impact.
What You'll Do
Loan Closing
Coordinate and facilitate the loan closing process across a varied portfolio including predevelopment, acquisition, construction, and permanent loans for affordable and market rate housing, mixed-use developments, nonprofits, and other community and economic development projects.
Develop and maintain closing checklists; collect, prepare, and review required loan forms, documentation, and due diligence materials.
Serve as the primary point of contact among loan officers, borrowers, attorneys/legal counsel, and third-party partners throughout the closing process.
Partner with legal counsel on loan document preparation, review, and collection of post-closing items.
Review loan documents to confirm accurate implementation of approved loan terms and compliance with CDF's Lending Policy.
Confirm project details at loan closing to ensure accurate compliance reporting.
Coordinate disbursement of closing funds and related third-party payments.
Enter, review, and maintain loan data and closing records in lending systems.
Provide regular updates on closing status and progress to internal stakeholders.
Loan Servicing & Portfolio Support
Support day-to-day loan servicing activities and procedures.
Assist loan officers, asset managers, and Finance in processing ongoing loan transactions.
Support construction loan budget management and related disbursement processing.
Assist with borrower reporting and project documentation collection.
Maintain loan records and systems to reflect transactions, modifications, status changes, and repayments.
Support other servicing needs and special projects as assigned.
How You’ll Know You’re Succeeding
Loan closings are completed on time and meet department production goals.
Loan documentation and files are accurate, complete, and well organized.
You manage multiple priorities efficiently without sacrificing quality.
Borrowers and internal partners report a high level of satisfaction with your responsiveness and service.
You contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented culture.
You model accountability, ownership, and follow-through.
You build strong working relationships with colleagues and external partners.
What You Bring
Education & Experience
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required; paralegal certification is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in loan closing, loan servicing/operations, banking, title/escrow, or real estate transactions.

Familiarity with LIHTC, HTC, NMTC, and other publicly supported housing initiatives preferred.
Skills & Attributes
Strong aptitude for numbers, problem-solving, and teamwork.
