Summary of Position
As a member of our Government Relations department, you will be joining a team that advocates on behalf of NRECA members on federal legislative and regulatory matters and in national policy forums and develops and trains our grassroots to impact policies at the federal, state and local level. NRECA has the top policy brand reputation among trade associations in Washington, D.C. for the last 4 consecutive years.
The Political Program Content Manager plans, creates, and manages content that supports NRECA advocacy, grassroots, and political engagement programs. The ideal candidate will have expertise in creating multi-channel content for social media, short-form video, digital communications, advocacy campaigns, and stakeholder engagement initiatives. This position requires 5 full days in office with flexibility offered at the discretion of management.
Key Responsibilities
Develops and executes content plans that support federal and state advocacy campaigns, grassroots engagement programs, political activities, and broader communications objectives.
Creates, edits, and manages content across social media, short-form video, reels, digital campaigns, websites, email communications, and advocacy engagement platforms.
Develops content calendars aligned to campaign milestones, policy developments, legislative activity, advocacy priorities, and organizational goals.
Produces and coordinates content assets, including videos, reels, graphics, written content, testimonials, advocate stories, campaign toolkits, and digital engagement materials.
Identifies opportunities to tell stories that highlight cooperative voices, advocacy priorities, policy impacts, grassroots engagement, and political program results.
Translates complex policy, legislative, and advocacy issues into clear, accessible content tailored to different audiences.
Adapts content and messaging for different audiences, geographies, advocacy objectives, platforms, and communication channels.
Collaborates with internal stakeholders, subject matter experts, Government Relations staff, Communications teams, and external partners to develop content and ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely execution.
Qualifications
Formal Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in political science, government, communications, or related field.
Required Qualifications and Skills
3 or more years of experience developing content for advocacy, public affairs, government relations, political campaigns, associations, coalitions, grassroots organizations, or issue-based initiatives.
Experience creating and managing content across multiple channels, including social media, digital communications, video, and multimedia platforms.
Experience with short-form video, reels, and emerging digital content formats, including content planning, scripting, and production coordination.
Experience translating policy, legislative, or advocacy issues into audience-focused content preferred.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Ability to leverage AI-enabled tools and content technologies to support content planning, audience segmentation, workflow efficiency, creative development, and performance optimization.
Essential Physical Requirements
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
Salary Range: $97,000–$120,000 annual salary
Final compensation determined by individual qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
