The Child and Family Services Division is seeking a Child Protective Services (CPS) In-Home Services Clinician. The work involves providing interventions to ensure child safety and well-being, including stabilizing and supporting families. The Specialist will be part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team; planning, organizing, and coordinating service delivery. This employee must also support and promote an environment that appreciates and holds opportunities for all.
Responsibilities
Major Job Duties:
Performing comprehensive assessments of children and their families, including home visits, to determine risk and safety;
Providing emergency crisis intervention to maintain safety and to provide services in the best interest of the youth;
Designing and implementing treatment plans with children and families to reduce risk and enhance safety;
Participating in court reviews and testifying in court;
Searching for and initiating contact with family members and/or additional supportive adults;
Documenting assessments, treatment plans, critical incident reports, detailed case contacts, progress notes, and service plans for court review;
Providing quality customer service to all internal and external customers in a timely and efficient manner; and
Performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Ability to work with diverse populations and an understanding of and respect for cultural differences.
Ability to work in a fast paced, crisis-oriented environment and changing environment: assess priorities, take initiative, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

Qualifications
Applicants may be hired at one of the following levels:
Full Performance:
Master's degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, or other directly related clinical discipline;
A clinical practicum involving diagnostic, treatment, and case management services, including experience with child services, community mental health, child welfare, or juvenile legal court prior to graduation; and
Two (2) years of experience providing clinical social work services.
Trainee:
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or other directly related clinical discipline;
Clinical practicum involving diagnostic, treatment, and case management services, including experience with child services, community mental health, child welfare, or juvenile legal court prior to graduation.
Depending upon qualifications, a training period will be established to last no longer than the equivalent of 24 months. At the end of the training period, the employee must meet experience, training, proficiency and certification requirements for the journey level position. Once the candidate qualifies, the one-year probationary period will begin.
Substitution: Directly related higher level clinical degrees may substitute for the Master's Degree education requirement and 1 year of experience.
Desirables: Preference may be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following:
Providing direct services to children and families involved with child welfare; and/or
Supporting and promoting an inclusive and diverse environment.

A background check and State of Virginia Child Welfare and Neglect Central Registry may be conducted on all candidates who are finalists for the position. It may include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.
Employees must possess, or obtain by time of appointment, a valid driver's license, and must provide or authorize Arlington County to obtain a copy of the official driving record. Any offer of employment may be contingent upon favorable review of the applicants driving record.
Additional Information:
Work hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with 2 days required in the community or office and up to 3 days of telework per week, subject to business needs. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required. Employee is required to be on an on-call rotation for after-hours coverage for child welfare emergencies.
The office is located at 2100 Washington Blvd (Sequoia Plaza); however much of the work (50%) is performed at locations in Arlington County and the surrounding jurisdictions.
