Responsibilities and Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Logistics, or related field from an accredited institution, or any equivalent combination of related education, training and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions.
Five (5) years of leadership experience in transportation-related area; public school environment with progressive experience in governmental accounting, finance, or budgeting, which includes expenditures and financial responsibility.
Two (2) years of experience managing, mentoring and leading teams of managers and employees to meet the goals and objectives of the department with a high level of success.
Must have the ability to research and resolve problems using data from a variety of resources and tools. Proven success in a self-directed work environment.

The incumbent is considered to be “essential personnel” during an emergency and can be subject to being held over or called back to a district location at all times.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of transportation logistics, safety fleet management, GPS, digital surveillance, and dispatch. Able to communicate and collaborate effectively.∗ Conduct individualized budget training∗ With and through staff, develop plans and identify district goals for each key performance indicator (KPI) of the unit.∗ Assist the Senior Director, Transportation Services with yearly preparation of the operating budget.∗ Investigate and resolve concerns related to student transportation.∗ Establishes/monitors use of performance measures and best practices to continuously improve quality and cost of services.∗ Coordinate the consistent application of standard operating procedures between the area managers.∗ Assist in planning and implementing a system of feedback and evaluation regarding the effectiveness of the section as perceived by the users of their services.∗ Keep the Senior Director, Transportation Services informed of critical issues within the unit and incidents about which the Superintendent and Board should be made aware.∗ Perform other incidental tasks or services consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.∗ May be required to serve as a Disaster Incident Management Team (DIMT) member during a disaster or emergency caused by severe weather, fires, power failures, pandemic, or event challenging our security.∗ Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines and the district’s instructional initiatives.∗ Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.∗ Develop leadership in management staff.∗ Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS. Every year, more than 100 graduates from OCPS high schools are accepted into top-20 colleges and universities around the country, as well as U.S. service academies. The district also boasts a 97.9% graduate rate among its 20 traditional high schools.
By 2020, every OCPS student had a laptop or digital device as a part of an aggressive and innovative digital learning program. The Center for Digital Education and National School Boards Association ranks OCPS among the top 10 on its annual Digital School Districts Survey. Currently, every secondary student has a laptop.
OCPS celebrated its 150th anniversary in December 2019. Thanks to Orange County voters and taxpayers, 50 new schools have been built and more than 120 school construction projects completed since 2003.
