Machine Operator – Reading, PA
The hours are 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Responsible for operating machinery in a safe and efficient manner to produce a part that meets or exceeds customer expectations. Employees may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Essential Job Functions:
Read and understand work order/BOM or follow oral instructions to operate machinery and produce a part that meets all specifications.
Assist set-up persons with feeding materials into inline forming machines when necessary.
Remove scrap materials from machine and dispose of per procedures.
Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions.
Inspect quality of finished product and report any quality issues to Setup Person, Shift Supervisor or Quality department.
Monitor and measure specific characteristics of product using measuring equipment where applicable.
Count, label, and pack finished product into totes, carton, skids etc. and transport them to the final packaging area.
Work in different work centers as production needs require.
Input accurate daily production information in computer shop floor data collection system.
Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment.
Comply with established Personnel Clean Room Practices procedures.
Communicate effectively with other shifts regarding machine, quality, and priority concerns. Effectively utilize shift overlaps to convey critical information.
Maintain department housekeeping and 5S program requirements.
Follow Good Documentation Practices rules in alignment with QMS / EMS requirements.
Perform all work procedures according to established Quality Management & Environmental Management Systems.
Perform job responsibilities and tasks in compliance with Company policies, procedures and safety and environmental regulations.
Essential Skills:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Requirements:
Employees are required to lift/carry up to 35 lbs. and to push/pull up to 10 lbs.
Work environment is subject to seasonal change from ambient conditions to hot/cold and/or wet/humid conditions.
