Position Summary
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the preventive maintenance, repair, and upkeep of Center buildings, grounds, equipment, and vehicles. This position helps ensure a safe, functional, and attractive campus while also providing transportation services for students as needed. The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, and committed to providing outstanding service in a team-oriented environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on Center buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds. Inspect building systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. Complete work orders accurately and document completed repairs and maintenance activities. Identify maintenance concerns and recommend corrective actions to supervisors. Assist with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and general facility repairs as appropriate. Maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of campus grounds and facilities. Operate and maintain maintenance equipment and tools in a safe manner. Provide safe and reliable transportation for students and staff as needed. Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly. Coordinate preventive maintenance and repair services for Center vehicles. Maintain required vehicle documentation in accordance with Department of Labor and company standards. Support emergency maintenance requests and assist with campus events and special projects. Mentor and supervise Work-Based Learning students assigned to the department, providing hands-on training and modeling professional work habits. Maintain compliance with all Job Corps policies, safety standards, and integrity requirements. Collaborate with all departments to support daily campus operations and student success. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Perform other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction trades, or a related field preferred. Experience with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, or general maintenance is highly desirable. Previous experience working with youth is a plus. Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to meet company insurability requirements. Ability to safely operate Center vehicles. Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and work in various indoor and outdoor environments. Ability to safely lift and carry up to 40 pounds, or assess when assistance is needed. Ability to perform physical tasks associated with facility maintenance throughout the workday.
