DESCRIPTION
Duties: Drive the architecture, design, and development of data platforms that help build data products to provide actionable insights to stakeholders, ultimately delivering data pipeline and architecture solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses. Responsible for the delivery and growth of enterprise-grade data processing platforms with a focus on scalability, availability, capabilities, and performance. Provide critical day-to-day leadership and strategic thinking while working with team of engineers and architects to align cross-functional initiatives, ensuring they are both fiscally and technically feasible. Identify opportunities to improve resiliency and availability of secure, high-performing platforms in Public Cloud using company's best practices. Influence peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and data technology teams. Elevate the engineering standards within the organization through best practices, coaching, and talent development. Collaborate with peer teams such as Data Management, Data Publishing, and Data Governance to deliver solutions for key personas, including analysts, data scientists, data engineers, software engineers, artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) engineers, operators, and compliance officers. Lead the execution of firm-wide migration to strategic platforms and Cloud. Directly manage multiple areas with strategic transactional focus. Oversee complex technology project and program execution, managing resources, budgets, and timelines while mitigating risks and addressing roadblocks.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field of study plus ten (10) years of experience in the job offered or as Senior Director of Software/Data Engineering, Software Architecture Director, Engineering Manager, Technical Lead, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field of study plus seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or as Senior Director of Software/Data Engineering, Software Architecture Director, Engineering Manager, Technical Lead, or related occupation.
Skills Required: This position requires seven (7) years of experience with the following skills: software engineering; managing and mentoring software engineers and technical leads in a matrixed organization; leading large-scale software development projects from inception through delivery including project planning, execution, and delivery; leading complex data modernization projects supporting system design, testing, and operational stability; designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native architectures using public or private cloud platforms; utilizing modern software development methodologies including Agile and DevOps practices in an enterprise environment; overseeing the implementation of secure coding practices and compliance with industry security standards in software products; performing budget planning, resource allocation, and vendor management within a technology organization; collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders including product management, business leaders, and external partners to align technology strategy with business objectives; working with open source distributed processing using Apache Spark and Apache Flink; implementing data governance, data quality, data security, and data integration; using a Petabyte-scale batch real-time data processing platform that processes billions of events per day; working on OLTP, OLAP, Cloud Native warehouses, and NoSQL databases; performing data modeling in Relational and NoSQL databases; and implementing open table formats including Iceberg and Delta in organizations for interoperability.
