Full job description
Vast is developing next-generation space stations and space infrastructure using an incremental, hardware-rich, and low-cost approach. Vast is rapidly developing its multi-module Haven Station to ensure a continuous human presence in space for America and its allies, enabling advanced microgravity research and manufacturing, and unlocking a new space economy for government, corporate, and private customers. Haven Demo’s 2025 success made Vast the only operational commercial space station company to fly and operate its own spacecraft. Next, Haven-1 is expected to become the world’s first commercial space station when it launches in 2027, followed by additional Haven modules. Additionally, the company recently announced Vast Satellite, a high-power satellite product line leveraging its space station components and the heritage of Haven Demo.
Headquartered in Long Beach, California, and with more than 1,000 employees and over a billion dollars in private capital, Vast has built the facilities required to manufacture and operate America’s next space station. The company plans to develop future habitats and systems for the Moon and Mars, dedicated space stations for government partners, and other crewed systems that will unlock the expanding long-term space economy.
Vast is looking for a Manufacturing Systems Coordinator, reporting to the Manufacturing Systems Manager, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of human-rated space stations.
This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
Develop, organize, and maintain Manufacturing Systems SOPs, user guides, quick-reference materials, starter packages, and best-practice documentation to support consistent use of Manufacturo and other manufacturing systems
Own the organization and maintenance of Manufacturing Systems documentation in Confluence, ensuring guidance is current, standardized, and easily accessible to manufacturing users
Create and distribute Manufacturing Systems bulletins communicating new Manufacturo features, capabilities, standards, process changes, and other relevant updates to factory users
Coordinate bi-weekly manufacturing communications across Operational Excellence, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Manufacturing Systems, highlighting new tools, improvements, standards, and key developments
Support the development, documentation, implementation, and auditing of Manufacturing Systems standards across production areas
Partner with area managers and functional owners to audit Production Lines, Work Centers, Locations, and related factory structures for alignment with established standards
Coordinate identified factory structure changes with the appropriate system and process owners and support alignment between MES structures and the live factory map
Communicate data-hygiene issues identified by Manufacturing Systems leadership to responsible owners, coordinate corrective actions, and track actions through closure
Support tracking and coordination of selected Manufacturo tickets requiring cross-functional follow-up and maintain visibility to outstanding actions
Collect, organize, and distribute weekly manufacturing performance metrics to production teams and area leadership
Consolidate performance metrics and existing analysis into a standardized Monthly Manufacturing Review for manufacturing leadership
Maintain and coordinate manufacturing area TVs, dashboards, visual management displays, and performance metrics to ensure information is current, standardized, and visible to production teams
Identify recurring gaps in Manufacturing Systems understanding or adherence and develop documentation, communication, or training materials to improve user adoption and standardization
Work directly with production teams and manufacturing leaders on the factory floor to reinforce standards, gather feedback, and improve the usability of Manufacturing Systems documentation and processes
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
3+ years of experience in manufacturing, production operations, manufacturing support, quality, supply chain, or a related environment
Familiarity with manufacturing processes, production workflows, and shop-floor operations
Experience creating or maintaining SOPs, work instructions, training materials, process documentation, or similar standardized guidance
Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple priorities, stakeholders, and actions through completion
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate processes and requirements into clear guidance for manufacturing users
Experience working with production metrics, dashboards, spreadsheets, or basic performance reporting
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or equivalent productivity tools, including spreadsheets and presentation software
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies in data, documentation, processes, and adherence to established standards
Ability to work cross-functionally with production employees, supervisors, engineers, and manufacturing support organizations
Ability and willingness to spend significant time on the manufacturing floor supporting users, conducting audits, and verifying standards
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Associate's or bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Operations, Information Systems, Business, or a related field
Experience conducting process, standards, 5S, quality, or manufacturing systems audits
Experience with manufacturing KPIs, visual management, dashboards, tiered accountability, or production performance reviews
Experience working with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES), ERP/MRP system, or other manufacturing software platform
Experience with Manufacturo or a similar Manufacturing Execution System
Experience supporting MES implementation, adoption, training, or continuous improvement activities
Familiarity with manufacturing master-data concepts including Production Lines, Work Centers, Locations, routings, work orders, and production structures
Experience with Confluence or another knowledge-management or documentation platform
Experience developing and delivering introductory training or orientation for manufacturing users
Experience working in aerospace, automotive, medical device, or another high-complexity manufacturing environment
Additional Requirements:
