Job Overview:

As a Data Engineer at TechX, you will build the data backbone of our AI-powered operational intelligence (AIOps) platform — the foundation that powers real-time anomaly detection, root cause analysis, and intelligent automation for leading enterprise and banking customers in Vietnam.

This is a customer-facing data engineering role: you will work directly with enterprise customers — leading data assessments of their source systems, advising on ingestion and integration strategies, and bringing their operational data onto the platform — while building and operating large-scale data pipelines (terabytes of telemetry per day) on AWS, in some of the most demanding, security-sensitive environments in the country.

You do not need prior experience with our specific streaming stack (Kafka, Flink, real-time OLAP): engineers with strong fundamentals receive structured onboarding and are productive on the stack within weeks. What matters most is your ability to work with customers, understand their systems, and engineer solid solutions in code.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work directly with enterprise customers throughout delivery: execute data assessments of source systems (observability stacks, databases, message queues, legacy middleware), clarify requirements with customer teams, and present ingestion/integration approaches — including onsite work in Hanoi during key project phases.

• Design ingestion strategies for complex enterprise environments: hybrid pull/agent-based collection, fallback design when sources are constrained, PII masking to banking compliance standards, coordination with customer infrastructure/security teams.

• Understand the platform end-to-end as a product: how data flows from customer sources through ingestion, processing, and serving to AI features — and explain it credibly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Build and operate real-time streaming pipelines: multi-source ingestion → Kafka → stream processing (Flink) → real-time OLAP serving layer, following the medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) — with team onboarding and support on the streaming stack.

• Own data modeling, data contracts, and data quality: schema design and evolution, deduplication, validation services, quality gates, catalog and lineage.

• Operate pipelines in production on AWS: Kubernetes (EKS), MSK, S3, IAM, CloudWatch; monitor, troubleshoot, and tune for reliability and cost.

• Prepare and serve data for ML and AI workloads in close collaboration with ML engineers and data scientists.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

• 3+ years of Data Engineering experience

• Experience working directly with customers or business stakeholders — gathering requirements, explaining technical solutions, or supporting delivery with client teams; professional Vietnamese communication for customer-facing work.

• Strong code-first engineering foundation: solid Python and deep SQL, building real production systems in code (not primarily GUI/drag-and-drop ETL tools) — and a track record of learning new technologies quickly.

• Practical experience operating workloads on a major cloud (AWS preferred): S3, IAM, container orchestration (EKS/ECS or equivalent), CloudWatch.

• Intermediate working English - able to communicate at basic level and in addition to reading and writing technical documentation

• Willingness to work onsite at customer locations in Hanoi during key project phases, within strict banking security environments.

Strong Pluses

• Experience with banking/enterprise customers in Vietnam: core banking systems, DWH/ODS, security reviews, PII/compliance, multi-stakeholder coordination.

• Hands-on production streaming experience: Kafka, a stream-processing framework (Flink or Spark Structured Streaming), real-time OLAP engines (Doris, ClickHouse, StarRocks)

• Experience assessing or integrating legacy enterprise systems (Oracle, IBM MQ, TIBCO, ESB, ELK/Graylog).

• Ability to read and work with Java codebases; streaming data modeling (medallion, deduplication, schema evolution, data contracts).

Nice To Have

• Terraform / Infrastructure-as-Code; GitOps (ArgoCD); Kubernetes at depth.

• Observability domain knowledge: logs/metrics/traces, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, ELK, Grafana.

• Workflow orchestration (Temporal, Airflow, or Dagster); data catalog tools (DataHub, OpenMetadata).

• ML data pipelines, feature stores (e.g., SageMaker Feature Store).
