A high school diploma is required, while an associate or bachelor's degree in business or accounting is preferred. Candidates need at least one year of experience as a full charge bookkeeper and the ability to perform physical tasks and travel locally.

Early Childhood Development Centers provide free Head Start services to low-income families at no cost to the children ages 3 to 5 years. The high-quality services are offered in the center-based program settings available for the Brooklyn and Queens Communities.
Through the Montessori approach, the centers ensure children are ready for school by providing a variety of developmentally appropriate activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, language-literacy, and physical development. The Head Start Program strives to actively engage parents, recognizing family participation throughout the program, as a key to a child’s robust development as well as to offer the learning experiences tailored to the changing needs and abilities of children.
STATEMENT OF THE JOB
Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager/Director, the Secretary-Bookkeeper’s responsibilities include but not limited to prepare petty cash, submit check requests, track budget, on weekly basis prepare bank deposit slips/receipts, disability insurance report, and assists in clerical tasks.
