About the role
The First Nation Community Wellbeing Worker plays a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to access mental health and wellbeing support at the West Mental Health & Wellbeing Local. The role will work across Brimbank, Maribyrnong and Wyndham local government areas and will promote connection and pathways to care among the community.
The role will be strongly integrated and supported through both the Mental Health and Wellbeing Local programs as well as Yakeen Tharn - cohealth's Aboriginal health team.

Our ideal candidate:
Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
A relevant tertiary qualification such as Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander health worker, community development, health promotion, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Officer, Social Work or equivalent experience in the housing, mental health, AOD, disability or welfare sectors, a lived experience is highly valued
Understanding of colonisation impacts, intergenerational trauma, Stolen Generations, cultural load and cultural safety
Strong belief and personal alignment in cohealth Values and Mission
