Role Overview:
The Clerical Assistant supports the clerical and administrative needs of the office. You will assist with organizing case files, ensuring documentation is properly retained, and supporting staff in connecting clients to resources. This role requires a high level of collaboration and confidentiality.
This position is in the Indianapolis, Indiana, West DCS Office and will serve Marion County, and surrounding counties as needed.
Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $31,668 but may be commensurate with education and job experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.
A Day in the Life:
Responsibilities include:
Maintain a variety of files, update case files as new material is collected, ensure that information is kept organized and that all necessary case documentation is retained in compliance with the record retention policy.
Prepare reports involving tabulations and balancing of posted data and simple arithmetic calculations.
Answer inquiries over the telephone or in person concerning regulations or procedures within specialized area.
Receive and prepare replies to routine correspondence.
Operate office machines related to specific area of work.

Working knowledge of computer software systems and data entry procedures.
Ability to make simple arithmetic computations.
Ability to maintain confidential records.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
