Description
The Philanthropy Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the National Domestic Violence Hotline’s fundraising and donor engagement efforts through individual giving, donor stewardship, and event execution. This position works closely with the Development Team to strengthen donor relationships, support fundraising campaigns, manage stewardship activities, and coordinate key fundraising and engagement events. The Philanthropy Specialist serves as a key connector between donors, prospects, event participants, and The Hotline's mission, helping to grow philanthropic support and deepen donor engagement.
This is a full-time, hybrid role with a requirement to work in the office two days per week.
Compensation: This role offers an annual salary of $65,000.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
Individual Giving & Donor Stewardship
Manage a portfolio of select individual donors giving up to $2,499 annually, developing and implementing personalized cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation strategies through donor outreach, engagement opportunities, impactful communications, and timely acknowledgments to strengthen donor retention and increase giving.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in CRM, documenting donor interactions, stewardship activities, relationship details, and next steps to support effective portfolio management and fundraising strategy.
Conduct donor and prospect research to identify capacity, interests, and engagement opportunities for individual donors.
Prepare donor briefings, meeting materials, call sheets, and portfolio reports for Development leadership and frontline fundraisers.
Conduct discovery and qualification outreach to individual donors across all giving levels to identify philanthropic interests, engagement opportunities, giving capacity, and potential pathways for deeper involvement with The Hotline.
Provide administrative and project management support for individual giving initiatives and donor engagement activities.
Events & Donor Engagement
Coordinate and implement logistics for fundraising and engagement events, including the National Conference on Domestic Violence, Hope Starts Here House Parties, onsite Listening Sessions, donor briefings, and other cultivation and stewardship events, ensuring a seamless and impactful attendee experience.
Organize and manage event timelines, project plans, task lists, and production schedules to ensure successful execution and meet key milestones.[MK1]
Track progress toward event participation and fundraising metrics and provide regular reports to internal stakeholders and leadership.
In partnership with external event planners, coordinate with venues, vendors, speakers, sponsors, and partners to secure services and support event needs.
Support sponsorship fulfillment, donor engagement opportunities, attendee communications, event-related stewardship activities, and the creation of event collateral[MK2] .
Support onsite event execution, including registration, donor hospitality, volunteer coordination, and logistics management.
Provide support and resources to external partners and supporters hosting third-party fundraising events benefiting The Hotline.
Implement inclusive, survivor-centered decision-making to create welcoming and meaningful event experiences.
Utilize event management software and tracking tools to streamline planning, communication, and reporting.
Requirements
Education & Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, marketing, communications, hospitality, or related field.
3 years’ experience in fundraising, event management, hospitality, customer service, or related field.
Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Passion for articulating and advancing the agency’s mission, programs, and purpose.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling donor updates, reports, and event collateral.
Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies, as well as experience with donor solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail, with the ability to re-order priorities as needed.
Ability to coordinate projects and collaborate with team members across multiple departments.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to oversee, monitor, and report on projects effectively.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), CRM systems (preferred experience with EveryAction), and event management software (preferred experience with Cvent).
Adaptability and resilience in approaching challenges as learning opportunities.
Strong emotional intelligence and ability to foster positive working relationships and organizational culture.
