ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and cook a variety of meals, including soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, and baked goods, from fresh, canned, dry, or frozen states according to recipes.
Adhere to residents' special dietary needs and restrictions.
Monitor all food items for temperature, taste, and quality; taste food to ensure top-notch quality.
Use various utensils and grillers to cook food, stirring or turning as needed.
Dress dishes for a great presentation before serving.
Keep the kitchen sanitized and orderly, ensuring all equipment is cleaned, working properly, and turned off before closing.
Store all food and items properly to maintain freshness and safety.
Check and ensure the quality of ingredients.
Monitor stock levels and place orders for shortages with supervisor's approval.
Follow nutrition and sanitation guidelines, including governmental and company policies, and ensure proper documentation.
Assist in training and orienting new kitchen staff.
Maintain high standards of appearance, cleanliness, and personal hygiene.
Attend all required in-service training sessions.
Be an active member of the community’s emergency response team.
Maintain a professional appearance and good personal hygiene as per company policies.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED (culinary school training is a plus).
Accredited food handler certification within 60 days, as per State guidelines.
6 months to 1 year of proven experience as a cook.
Experience with cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware.
Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.).
Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
Team player with effective oral and written communication skills.
