The Diet Clerk works a designated eight (8) hour shift in the office area at AuSSLC under the general supervision of the Director of Food Service and the Asst. Director of Food Service. Performs routine office tasks according to procedures. Majority of work is working on the computer using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access. Performs varied clerical and diet office duties which includes updating and maintaining diet office programs and the daily preparation of the production sheets for ASH and AuSSLC. Shares responsible for the daily preparation of production information for patient requirements. Responsible for keying in reports, compiling figures on census and diets and verifying information against existing records. Assists with the printing of tray line tags, diet cards and other labels needed for patient delivery of items as needed. Shares responsibility with other clerical personnel for all daily activities of the Food & Nutrition Services Department involved in office management including requisitions, office supply orders; Mims orders, etc.
Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Prepares production sheets to provide production and control room staff information needed to prepare correct amounts of foods and delivery tags to serving areas.
Receives and records requests for diets, food request forms to provide an effective service to the residents.
Receives and answers telephone and written inquires concerning diet and food programs.
Collects and maintains diet census records.
Shares responsibility with other clerical personnel for all daily activities of the Food & Nutrition Services Department involved in office management.
Completes all required training per policy.
Observes safety procedures and practices.
Other duties as assigned including but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
Knowledge of therapeutic and modified texture diets.
Knowledge of general food service policies and procedures.

Graduation from an accredited High School or GED equivalent.
Experience as a clerk in an office setting preferred.
Experience with specialized diets OR ability to learn the specialized diets, preferred.
Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.
Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
