About Braven
Braven is a national nonprofit that prepares promising college students to secure a strong first opportunity after college graduation through a career-accelerating program.
We work with higher education and employer partners to offer a life-changing experience that begins with a semester-long course for college students, followed by support that lasts through graduation.
Together, our ambition is to help rebuild the middle class and revitalize the American Dream.
To learn more, take a look at Braven’s Jobs Report.
About the Role
In order to achieve its ambition of serving 80,000-100,000 Fellows over the next decade, Braven is hiring a part-time Specialist, Volunteer Recruitment to support the execution of our volunteer recruitment strategy, helping bring in the thousands of Leadership Coaches, Professional Mentors, and Mock Interview Volunteers who make Braven’s program possible each year.
As a member of the Volunteer Team, you will work closely with the Associate Director, Volunteer Recruitment, to execute outreach tactics, build relationships with prospective volunteers, facilitate info sessions, and support the pipeline of candidates moving toward applying to our programs. This is a hands-on, relationship-facing role that sits at the front of the volunteer funnel, ideal for someone who is energized by connecting with people, finds creative ways to spread the word about a mission they believe in, and takes pride in organized, consistent follow-through.
Hours vary between 10 and 20 per week depending on the recruitment cycle, with lighter weeks during off-peak periods. This role is part-time and ends in June 2027. The Specialist will report to the Assoc. Director, Volunteer Recruitment.
What You’ll Do
Outreach & Lead Generation (50%)
Research and post volunteer opportunities on listservs, professional networking groups, community boards, and other relevant channels to build awareness and drive applications
Connect with Braven staff members who want to spread the word about volunteer opportunities, helping them craft targeted, personalized messages to their own networks and supporting their follow-up
Support the launch and ongoing management of Braven’s volunteer champions program, interviewing committed volunteers who can serve as advocates and help recruit others to join our programs
Assist with LinkedIn Ads setup, supporting the Associate Director, Volunteer Recruitment, and the Associate Director, Volunteer Communications, in managing campaigns during active recruitment windows
Info Sessions & Events (25%)
Manage the logistics and coordination of Braven’s volunteer info sessions, including scheduling, calendar management, facilitation, and post-session follow-up
Support in-person volunteer recruitment events alongside regional staff and Employer Partnerships Directors as needed, including attending events, putting together materials, and supporting follow-up
Conduct tailored follow-up with info session attendees and other prospective volunteers in the pipeline via email, text messages, and phone calls to move them toward completing an application
Recruitment Communications Support (25%)
Draft and tailor recruitment communications, including info session decks, outreach templates, reminder emails, and flyers, in support of active recruitment campaigns
Communicate with volunteers to move them through the pipeline, helping address questions and re-engage candidates who have stalled
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
At least 2 years of work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in recruitment, volunteer coordination, community outreach, marketing, or a related field
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write warmly, clearly, and in a way that moves people to action
Highly organized with strong follow-through; comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines across a fast-moving recruitment cycle
Relationship-oriented and energized by connecting with people, including building rapport and representing an organization they believe in
Experience and comfort with digital tools, including Google Workspace, email marketing platforms, and social media; experience with Salesforce, Campaign Monitor, or LinkedIn Ads is a plus
Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment about when to escalate or ask for guidance
Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
Exemplification of Braven’s core values
Experience that has informed your belief in Braven’s mission and has prepared you to work with, or for, Braven’s student Fellow population
Please know that no one ever meets 100% of the preferred qualifications. If much of this describes you, we encourage you to apply.

Braven empowers promising young people on their path to college graduation and strong first jobs. We believe that our next generation of leaders will emerge from everywhere, so we take a particular interest in ensuring our talent network is filled with people from underrepresented backgrounds. To do so, Braven partners with educational institutions, volunteer professionals, and employers to offer a rigorous and relevant career readiness course, that is followed by robust campus-based alumni programming. The course is targeted as a part of the sophomore or transfer junior experience.
Through The Braven Accelerator, a hybrid online and in-person course, Braven Fellows will get:
--Skills: learn the hard and soft skills companies and organizations want and practice them in mock professional settings.
--Experience: apply skills to solve real-world challenges with a cohort of peers.
--Coaching: receive small group and one-on-one coaching from a local young professional to achieve personal and professional goals.
--Networking: expand one’s circle of champions to include motivated peers, supportive adults, and respected thought-leaders.
The Braven Accelerator is principally facilitated by volunteer Leadership Coaches who come from all walks of life and all believe that our nation is better off when a person’s starting point does not limit their opportunities. Leadership Coaches guide our nation’s future leaders through this meaningful experience. At the same time, they develop and practice leadership and management skills that accelerate their own careers. They also develop their own network and deepen their connection to the community in which they live and/or work. This unique, high-impact volunteer opportunity employs a primarily virtual coaching model.
From The Braven Accelerator will come a generation of leaders as diverse as our future demands.
