Performs moderate and complex specimen procedures in anatomical pathology and immunohistochemistry to produce microscopic slides for pathologist interpretation. Oversees technical work areas, ensures regulatory compliance, and serves as a lead for training new employees and students.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in histotechnology or a related science from an accredited institution and completion of a clinical internship. HTL certification by ASCP or NCA is required within 180 days of hire.
Performs moderate and complex specimen procedures in the areas of anatomical/surgical pathology and immunohistochemistry. Oversees one or more technical work area, which includes oversight of key operators, regulatory compliance, new method project plans, technical communications, and cost-effective inventory control. Serves as a lead for training students and new employees, participates in system competency development, and assists in the direct observation of staff for the annual competency program. Functions as a liaison to system Technical Specialist and serves as Charge Tech in absence of Lead/Supervisor/Manager.
