Coordinates the evaluation and acceptance of deceased donor organ offers for heart, lung, kidney, liver, and pancreas transplants. Acts as a liaison between surgeons, organ procurement organizations, and patients while ensuring compliance with OPTN/UNOS requirements.
Requires a degree or diploma in nursing, paramedic certification with critical care experience, or a degree in Human Donation Science or respiratory therapy. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in nursing, paramedic, or organ procurement coordination is required.
Assumes 24/7 on-call coverage for Solid Organ Transplant deceased donor organ offers. Coordinates all activities related to the evaluation for suitability of organ offers for heart, lung, kidney, liver, and pancreas deceased donor organ offers. Partners directly with attending surgeon on acceptance of organ offers, and interfaces with Organ Procurement Organizations and interdisciplinary team members to facilitate transplant for heart, lung, kidney, liver and pancreas recipients.
