Full job description
Own commercial performance across a portfolio of third-party sales channels
Build high-value partner relationships that drive quality outcomes for Origin's SME customers
Melbourne | Permanent Opportunity based
Join a team that's All Kinds of Useful
At Origin, being useful is more than a tagline - it’s how we approach work every day. As a collective, we’re a team that thrives on finding better ways, working together, and owning our impact. From powering homes to delivering award-winning internet and helping to lead Australia’s energy transition. If you’re driven by purpose and excited to be part of something bigger, we’d love to have you on the journey.
About the role:
As Channel Manager – SME within Origin's Third Party Sales team, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of third-party sales channels supporting our SME customer base. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Third Party Sales, you'll build and manage effective relationships with channel partners, drive commercial performance against sales and financial targets, and ensure every channel operates to Origin's compliance and quality standards. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders across Sales Assurance, Legal, Regulatory and Compliance to keep channels compliant, while shaping the channel plans and campaigns that grow the business.
Why this role matters?
This role sits at the heart of Origin's third-party sales performance. You'll shape the channel plans and campaigns that keep our SME sales channels running well, negotiate commercial agreements that protect Origin's interests, and build the partner relationships that open up new opportunities for the business. You'll also help keep our channels compliant — from consumer law through to complaints handling — so customers get a fair, consistent experience no matter which channel they come through.
What will you bring?
A tertiary qualification in marketing or business, or equivalent industry experience.
Experience managing channel or partner relationships, ideally within energy or a similar service-based industry.
Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills, with confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels.
An understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements, or a willingness to get up to speed quickly.
Origin - Where good change happens
At Origin, we’re powered by people who believe in creating change.
We are committed to fostering a diverse, gender equitable workforce, where everyone is welcome, and all applications are evaluated on merit and potential. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, people living with disabilities, culturally diverse people, any stage in life, people with intersex variations and people within LGBTQ+ communities, including trans and gender diverse.
Enjoy a challenging career in an exciting industry where you can grow and explore your potential. If you think you have transferable skills, an appetite to learn and would be a great fit, we’d love to hear from you.
Background checks may be required to determine your suitability for this position as part of the recruitment process and during your employment. These checks may include police checks, AusCheck, medical assessment and/or drug and alcohol testing.
Please note unsolicited CVs from agencies will not be accepted.
Origin recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia, and we pay our respects to Elders past, present and future.
Origin is one of Australia's leading energy companies, exploring, generating and delivering energy to over 4 million customer accounts. Our purpose – getting energy right for our customers, communities and planet – drives everything we do.
As Australia's largest energy retailer, we have an important role to play in providing electricity, natural gas, solar and LPG to Australian communities and work every day to make energy more affordable, more sustainable, smarter and easier for our customers.
We are committed to leading the transition to a cleaner energy future and believe our company, and the energy industry more broadly, should be at the forefront of action to reduce carbon emissions. Origin was the first Australian company to set an emissions reduction target endorsed by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) – aiming to halve our Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions by 2032, as we work towards achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
Through the Origin Energy Foundation, we support programs that use education to help break the cycle of disadvantage and empower young Australians to reach their potential, contributing more than $27 million to support community organisations since 2010.
