The engineer will research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks for various applications. They will also interface with vendors, government representatives, and shipyard teams to support the design process from inception through completion.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Strong technical writing and communication skills are required, along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

The Role
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience;
Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience;
Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Nice to Have
Experience with industrial motors, motor controllers, and drives is desired, including experience with PLCs, VSDs, and network communications. Power distribution and control experience is desired. Experience with developing and reviewing military standard environmental qualification experience is preferred (Shock, Vibe, EMI)
In addition, the candidate should have the following; • MS computer skills. • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write technical documents clearly, accurately, and with technical rigor. • The ability to interface with a variety of organizations, including vendors, government representatives, and shipyard engineering and construction activities to develop, install, test, and troubleshoot electrical equipment. • The ability to work in a team to support comprehensive engineering design processes from inception through completion.
