Orion Castings is North America’s leading full-service aluminum, zinc, and magnesium die casting manufacturer. Since 1970, we have produced the highest-quality die cast parts and assemblies for major customers, sharing a deep dedication to stretching the boundaries of what’s possible in manufacturing.
Our Cambridge Division is one of Orion Castings longest-running facilities. Founded in 1945, Cambridge has been providing contract manufacturing die casting worldwide for more than 80 years. Operating out of a massive 300,000-square-foot facility, we provide a large-scale environment for expert manufacturing services.
At Orion Castings, we build careers—not jobs. There is a reason why so many of our team members celebrate 20+ years with the company. Start here, retire here, and join us in making advanced aluminum die cast parts for the aerospace, medical device, robotics, and defense industries.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled, independent CNC Programmer to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in our manufacturing process by developing programs and writing code to produce precision components on computer numerical control CNC mills and lathes. Tooling & Strategy: Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, and machining strategies based on material type and part geometry. Calculate cutting speeds and feeds to optimize cycle time and tool life.
Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T requirements.
Precision Machining: Machine tight-tolerance components using ferrous, non-ferrous, and plastic materials.
Quality & Inspection: Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measurement tools.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve machining issues including chatter, tool wear, chip evacuation, and surface finish imperfections.
Maintenance & Safety: Maintain tooling, equipment, and machine calibration. Perform secondary operations such as deburring and polishing. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Collaboration: Communicate effectively with engineering, quality, and production teams.
