At Williams, we’re powering a cleaner, more connected future, and that starts with you. Here, your work fuels communities, drives innovation, and helps deliver reliable energy the world depends on. Join a Fortune 500 team that invests in your growth, values your contributions, and challenges you to make a lasting impact every day.
Power the Digital Age with Us
At Williams, we’re not only making energy happen—we’re transforming how it powers the future. With exciting data center projects underway, we’re expanding our team to support these high-tech facilities with reliable, clean energy. If you’re passionate about hands-on work, cutting-edge technology, and making a real impact, we’d love to meet you.
As a mechanically-focused Operations Technician Lead, you’ll be at the heart of Williams’ operations, working hands-on with our largest horsepower and power distribution installations. Expect to deepen your expertise with:
Advanced maintenance and optimization of gas turbines and high-speed reciprocating engines
Detailed work on medium voltage generators and complex power distribution systems
Direct involvement with environmental controls and distributed control systems, ensuring mechanical reliability
You’ll play a vital role on construction projects, take charge of diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment, and use your technical know-how to address operational challenges. This experience will help you develop into a trusted mechanical leader within your team.
What You’ll Do
As a mechanically-focused Operations Technician Lead, your responsibilities will revolve around the upkeep and enhancement of our facility’s mechanical systems. Your key duties include:
Leading mechanical maintenance and repairs to ensure our pipeline and facility equipment—engines, turbines, compressors, and more—operate efficiently and reliably
Systematically troubleshooting mechanical failures and collaborating with technicians to resolve issues and restore equipment to peak condition
Applying technical standards and safety protocols to every aspect of mechanical work, ensuring regulatory compliance at all times
Coordinating shift operations and delegating mechanical tasks to maximize team productivity and achieve shared objectives
Driving the mechanical aspects of construction, commissioning, and upgrades of facility systems
Maintaining thorough mechanical records, logs, and technical reports to monitor system performance and guide improvements
Mentoring team members in mechanical best practices and fostering a hands-on, safety-driven environment
Minimum 8 years of experience as an Operations Technician in the oil and gas industry
Valid State Driver’s License and clean driving record
Strong mechanical aptitude and leadership skills
Ability to work effectively in a shift-based, field-oriented environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of control systems and PLCs
Preferred:
Associate or 2-year technical degree
Experience in natural gas processing or compression facilities
Work Environment & Schedule
Work in extreme temperatures, loud environments, and enclosed spaces
Lift up to 50 lbs and team-lift heavier loads
Stand, walk, climb, bend, and squat for extended periods
Work at elevated levels using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts with appropriate PPE
Use hand tools and mechanical diagnostic equipment
Available for shift work, on-call rotations, nights, weekends, and holidays
Occasional travel between Williams locations with overnight stays
We welcome candidates with a variety of backgrounds and experiences — if you don’t meet every qualification, this role may be filled at a level that aligns with your skills and growth potential
