The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting manufacturing processes across cutting, edge finishing, tempering, lamination, screen printing, and inspection operations. This role works cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams to improve throughput, yield, and first-pass quality while maintaining strict process controls appropriate for precision glass fabrication.
Develop and document manufacturing routings and process parameters for CNC machining, waterjet and laser cutting, drilling, edge grinding and polishing, chemical strengthening, and thermal tempering.
Analyze scrap, rework, and yield data to identify root causes of defects and implement corrective actions.
Partner with Quality to define and maintain inspection gate criteria across departments.
Support new product introduction (NPI) by developing process plans for new part geometries and substrates.
Optimize cycle times and material utilization across cutting and lamination operations.
Maintain and update process documentation within Epicor Kinetic (ERP) and the internal routing guide.
Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) on the shop floor.
Collaborate with equipment vendors and maintenance teams on capital equipment specification, installation, and qualification.
Train operators on new or revised process procedures.
Investigate and resolve process-related nonconformances and customer complaints.
Support screen printing process development, including registration, ink cure, and adhesion requirements.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent manufacturing experience).
3+ years of process or manufacturing engineering experience in ceramics is a plus.
Working knowledge of thermal or chemical tempering, lamination, and precision edge finishing processes.
Experience with ERP/MES systems a plus
Strong analytical and statistical problem-solving skills (root cause analysis, DOE, SPC).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Cat-i Glass Manufacturing can trace its roots back to Elgin Precision Glass (EPG) founded by Carl Jaynes in 1965. EPG started out producing automotive air conditioning sight glasses in a barn and eventually grew into a thriving business housed in a new 144,000 square foot building. EPG was sold in the late eighties but the concepts endured. In 1995, Cat-i Glass Manufacturing emerged to carry on the EPG mission. Our engineering and management group has in excess of 25 years of glass experience. With its core being made up of previous EPG employees, Cat-i Glass has come a long way since the barn. In early 2006 we became ISO 9001:2000 registered. In January 2007, we relocated to a new 75,000 square foot facility. Since then we've acquired two more buildings bringing our space to over 150,000 square feet. Cat-i Glass employees use their knowledge and initiative to provide quality parts that meet or exceed our customer’s expectations.
