About the job:
Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.
Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.
Join our Cloud AI team and shape the future of AI development.
As a Technical Program Manager for Safety and Anti-Abuse, you will guide the delivery of AI safeguards and anti-abuse initiatives for Generative AI products. You will partner with product managers, engineers, policy teams, and leadership to define safety roadmaps, prioritize anti-abuse features, implement model guardrails, and manage complex safety projects to successful release.
In this role, you will navigate a fast-paced environment where your technical depth, safety expertise, and program management directly influence Google’s AI safety strategy. If you are passionate about trust and safety in AI, skilled at managing complex anti-abuse programs, and ready to go deep technically on content moderation, adversarial testing, and risk mitigation.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Manage safety and anti-abuse programs with deep technical and product understanding, applying program management expertise to complex GenAI contexts while providing thought leadership on AI safety.
Manage end-to-end life-cycles of AI safety initiatives, from requirement gathering and threat modeling to risk assessment, policy enforcement, and feature prioritization.
Partner with engineering, policy, legal, and product teams to define safety workstreams, mitigation plans, and release milestones. Drive alignment on trust and safety standards across all stakeholders.
Provide clear project status updates to leadership and partners. Advocate for advanced safety evaluation methodologies, red-teaming practices, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for abuse detection and safety performance.
