Senior Project Officer

Service Improvement and Reporting – DSPA

• Principal location – Parramatta - Flexible working arrangements maybe negotiated.
• Employment type – Ongoing – Full time (35 hours)
• Salary – Clerk Grade 9/10, Base Salary ($133,348 - $146,945), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

Join the Service Improvement and Reporting team within the Divisional Support and Public Accountability (DSPA) branch of Law Reform and Legal Services, NSW Department of Communities and Justice. This is an exciting opportunity to lead complex projects that improve ministerial workflows, business processes and reporting systems that support transparent service delivery and public accountability. You'll work with a broad range of stakeholders to deliver meaningful improvements that enhance how the division operates and delivers services to its customers.

What you’ll do

As part of the Service Improvement and Reporting team within Divisional Support and Public Accountability (DSPA), you will lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of strategic projects that strengthen ministerial workflows, reporting processes and business operations across the division.

You will also:

• Lead and coordinate complex projects from planning through to implementation and evaluation, ensuring outcomes are delivered on time, within scope and to quality standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve ministerial workflows, business processes and reporting systems through research, analysis and stakeholder consultation.
• Develop project plans, monitor progress, manage risks and issues, and provide timely reporting on project performance and benefits.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders through effective communication, consultation and negotiation.
• Provide expert advice and recommendations to support informed decision-making and continuous service improvement.
• Prepare high-quality project documentation, reports, briefings and business cases for senior leaders.
• Coordinate project governance activities and ensure compliance with agency project management methodologies.
• Manage competing priorities across multiple interconnected projects while maintaining high standards of delivery.
• Contribute to a collaborative, customer-focused culture that values innovation, continuous improvement and accountability.
• Provide guidance and oversight to project team members or contractors, where required.
• Work as part of a collaborative and high-performing team that is committed to service excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.

What we’re looking for

• Demonstrated experience leading complex projects from planning to implementation, applying sound project management methodologies to deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes and priorities.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships, negotiate effectively and influence positive outcomes across diverse business areas.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience identifying opportunities for business improvement and developing practical, evidence-based recommendations.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience, with the ability to manage competing priorities and contribute to a collaborative, customer-focused and high-performing team.
