Clerical Specialist – MJC
Hourly Pay Rate: $16.87 to $25.31

Job Summary: This position supports the MJC Information/Intake Desk and Civil Legal Helpline. The objective is to ensure the professional and effective performance of the MJC staff and volunteers in providing service assessments to all individuals seeking assistance, in person, on the phone, or via email. It exists because the other MJC staff are committed to other clinic functions and volunteers alone are not sufficient to ensure quality performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Respond to public questions, requests for information, and request for MJC clinic assistance on a wide array of complex legal problems, pursuant to SCR 70.41 (Assistance to Court Users).
Provide referral information to various community resources
Create, implement, and revise all client and volunteer process and procedures for MJC Intake Desk
Create and maintain resources for information desk function of intake desk
Collaborate with MJC team to adjust clinic processes and procedures
Maintain client data daily, update database, manage storage of client intake information. Maintain daily volunteer data and client appointment scheduling and assist with the creation of regular data reports for MJC partners.
Assist volunteer students with providing legal information over the Civil Legal Helpline and educate students on the difference between legal information and legal advice.
Administrative duties to assist MJC Legal Staff
Minimum Education and Years of Experience Required:
Current Wisconsin resident
Associate Degree
At least one (1) year of experience working in legal, courts, social services or an information/referral network.
Lift and Carry up to 50LBS.
Preferred Experience:
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Associates degree in paralegal, court management or criminal justice preferred
Volunteer management experience preferred
Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred
