About Our Family
We are a warm, energetic family of five with three school-age daughters, two busy working parents, and two very lovable (and very unaware of personal space) golden retrievers. Our home is full of activity, laughter, sports practices, school events, arts and crafts projects, and the everyday adventures that come with raising three wonderful girls. While life is busy, we value creating a home that feels calm, connected, and welcoming.
We are intentional parents who care deeply about raising kind, capable, grounded children. Education, healthy meals, family connection, and showing up for one another matter to us. We love spending time together, staying active, and creating routines that help everyone thrive. Our daughters are curious, fun, and engaged, and we're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being around children—whether that's helping with homework, building LEGO creations, working on a puzzle, getting outside, or simply being a positive and steady presence in their day.
Our ideal household runs on teamwork rather than chaos. We have professional cleaners and outsource larger home maintenance tasks, so this role is less about deep cleaning and more about providing the thoughtful day-to-day support that keeps everything moving smoothly. We're looking for someone who takes initiative, notices what needs to be done, communicates well, and enjoys being part of a family. Most importantly, we hope to find someone who will feel truly valued here—someone who becomes a trusted partner in our home and an important part of our family's story.
Who You Are / What We're Looking For
This role is for someone who wants to become more than just an employee. We hope to find a true partner in our home—someone who feels invested in our family's success and takes pride in making our lives run more smoothly. We often say, "our house is your house," because we want this person to feel welcomed, trusted, and valued as an important part of our household. Long-term relationships matter to us, and we're looking for someone who genuinely wants to grow with a family, build meaningful connections with our children, and become a steady, trusted presence in our lives.
Naturally Proactive: You don't wait to be told what needs to happen. You notice the birthday party invitation, buy and wrap the gift, restock the pantry, schedule the appointment, and handle the details before they become stressors for the family.
A True Household Partner: You genuinely enjoy making life easier for others and take ownership of your role. You see a problem, own the problem, and solve the problem. You think several steps ahead and are constantly looking for ways to create calm, organization, and efficiency.
Warm, Engaging & Family-Oriented: You love being around children and enjoy becoming a trusted, long-term presence in a family's life. You're excited to build relationships, participate in the daily rhythm of the household, and become someone the children know, trust, and enjoy spending time with.
Kind but Confident with Children: You can connect with kids through games, crafts, outdoor play, homework help, and conversation, but you also know how to maintain boundaries. You're comfortable enforcing household expectations, encouraging healthy choices, helping children regulate big emotions, and holding firm when children push back.
Highly Organized & Detail-Oriented: You thrive in a busy household with multiple schedules, activities, and moving pieces. You enjoy creating order, managing logistics, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
Type-A in the Best Way: You take pride in doing things thoroughly and thoughtfully. Whether you're managing household tasks, coordinating schedules, preparing meals, or organizing a space, you care about the end result and consistently deliver high-quality work.
Dog Lover: You genuinely enjoy being around large dogs and won't be bothered by two affectionate golden retrievers who firmly believe they belong in everyone's personal space.
Adaptable & Solution-Oriented: You use strong judgment and common sense, communicate proactively, and can independently make decisions that align with the family's values and priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Meal Support
Prepare two to three dinners per week, ideally hot and ready or prepped for easy finishing (but not opposed to having all the ingredients for a charcuterie board)
Batch-prep breakfast items such as egg bites and oatmeal bakes as a bonus
Support healthy, nutrition-conscious eating in the household; one family member follows a gluten-free preference
Grocery shopping and kitchen cleanup and maintenance
Family Support
School pickup and transportation to after-school activities including dance and soccer, approximately two to three evenings per week
After-school routine support: backpack unloading, folder review, and homework oversight, as well as making sure rooms and play areas are organized/cleaned and that the children’s laundry is put away in their closets (These responsibilities are for the children with your oversight).
Encourage academic engagement by reviewing missed problems and supporting independent effort, not doing work for the kids
Support healthy snack choices and consistent nutrition habits (i.e. children must move their bodies everyday before unstructured play time/screen time)
Hold firm on household rules and routines; redirect when needed with warmth and backbone
Packing and unpacking for kids' travel, including preparation for overnight camp in the summer
Household Organization & Maintenance
Create and maintain household organizational systems
Daily resets and light tidying including surfaces, dishes, and high-traffic areas (which include everything from beds to couch cushions to outdoor spaces)
Seasonal clothing swaps for kids using established bin system
Pantry bin tidying up
Guest room prep for visiting family and friends
Change batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors as needed, charge Ring alarm system batteries
Calendar oversight and coordination to help prevent scheduling conflicts
Coordinate donation drop-offs
Inventory & Errands
Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies
Manage running household supply lists and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target)
Errands including returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping and wrapping, pharmacy, and post office
Bring in mail and packages; break down boxes
Laundry & Linens
Wash and dry kids' laundry at minimum; potential to expand to full household laundry over time; children are responsible for putting away their clean laundry
Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas
Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
Descale and clean coffee maker and clean nugget ice machine
Refresh garage, mudroom, and entry areas
Organizational projects for toys and gear
Preparation for kids' two-week overnight camp
Pet Care
Comfortable being around two large dogs daily
Maintain pet supplies
Supervise children feeding dogs dinner
Occasional vet or grooming transport helpful but not required
Vehicle Upkeep
Schedule family vehicle maintenance appointments
Encourage kids to clear their belongings from family vehicles
Fueling and general vehicle tidiness as a nice-to-have
Vendor & Property Oversight
Be present at home when vendors need access
Coordinate with household property management contacts as needed
Ensure outdoor spaces are reset and ready for family use
