About A-Team Allegheny County Mobile Crisis
The A-Team Mobile Crisis Program provides immediate, community-based behavioral health crisis intervention services throughout Allegheny County. Working in partnership with 911 dispatch, law enforcement, EMS, fire and rescue services, hospitals, and community organizations, our team responds directly to behavioral health emergencies where and when support is needed most.
Our mission is to de-escalate crises, reduce unnecessary hospitalizations and incarcerations, connect individuals with appropriate treatment and community resources, and promote recovery through compassionate, person-centered care.

Position Summary
As a Behavioral Health First Responder, you will provide mobile crisis intervention and support services to individuals experiencing behavioral health emergencies throughout Allegheny County. You will respond to crisis calls in the community, conduct assessments, de-escalate situations, coordinate care, and connect individuals to critical resources and services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Respond in person to behavioral health crisis calls received through emergency dispatch and referral sources.
Conduct behavioral health assessments and evaluate immediate needs.
Utilize crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to safely manage behavioral health emergencies.
Provide crisis counseling, psychoeducation, supportive interventions, and skills training.
Transport individuals to appropriate levels of care when necessary.
Facilitate referrals, admissions, and linkages to behavioral health and community-based services.
Collaborate with law enforcement, EMS, hospitals, and other community partners.
Conduct follow-up contacts to ensure individuals are connected to ongoing supports and treatment.
Complete required clinical documentation and administrative reporting in a timely manner.
Participate in community outreach activities and represent the program at events.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Nursing, Education, Anthropology, Gerontology, Political Science, History, Theology, or a related human services field;
OR
High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant lived experience, recovery experience, caregiving experience, or behavioral health-related experience.
Valid driver's license and the ability to safely operate a vehicle throughout the service area.
Ability to work effectively in community-based and crisis-response environments.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) credential.
Experience working in behavioral health, crisis intervention, recovery support services, social services, emergency response, or community-based care settings.
