Summary
In this role, you will serve as an AI Solutions Architect within Vizient’s Platform Engineering organization, designing scalable, secure, reusable, and AI-enabled enterprise solutions that support platforms, applications, data services, and intelligent automation capabilities. You will partner with Engineering, Architecture, CloudOps, Security, Data Governance, and IT teams to deliver well-architected solutions aligned with enterprise strategy using modern cloud-native, data-driven, and AI-native patterns. You will guide enterprise approaches for AI integration, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, model orchestration, responsible AI, and secure AI adoption while balancing innovation, reliability, compliance, and business value.
Responsibilities
Define architecture patterns for generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, model integration, prompt orchestration, agent-based workflows, and AI-assisted automation.
Design end-to-end solution and reference architectures across applications, APIs, integrations, data platforms, identity, cloud infrastructure, and AI-enabled systems.
Partner with Engineering, Architecture, CloudOps, Security, Data Governance, IT, and Product teams to embed security, reliability, privacy, and responsible AI practices.
Guide Platform Engineering teams in designing secure, reusable components, shared services, and AI platform capabilities.
Develop proofs of concept, automation scripts, tools, and reference implementations across application, data, security, integration, and AI use cases.
Evaluate AI architecture approaches, frameworks, model integration patterns, vector stores, semantic search capabilities, and orchestration technologies.
Lead architecture and design sessions with engineering teams, business stakeholders, AI product teams, and data teams.
Simplify complex technical concepts, including AI architecture, model behavior, data grounding, and security tradeoffs, to influence direction and gain stakeholder buy-in.
Architect solutions that meet non-functional requirements including security, reliability, scalability, performance, compliance, observability, and AI governance.
Drive long-term technical evolution across platform, data, cloud, application, and AI strategies.
Mentor team members and support adoption of modern AI engineering practices across cross-functional teams.
Ensure solution designs comply with enterprise policies, standards, and directives established by the CISO organization and Data Governance.
Qualifications
Relevant degree preferred. Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
7 or more years of software engineering experience, including 5 or more years in software architecture, systems design, or AI solution architecture required.
Full-stack development experience across front-end, back-end, and cloud-native applications required.
Hands-on experience designing, building, or integrating AI-enabled and data-driven solutions required.
Experience with generative AI platforms, large language model integration, RAG architectures, prompt engineering, model orchestration, vector databases, semantic search, or AI agents preferred.
Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure cloud services, including networking, security, identity, data, and Azure AI capabilities required.
Knowledge of industry standards and compliance frameworks such as HIPAA and SOC 2 required.
Understanding of AI-related privacy, security, governance, model risk, and responsible use considerations preferred.
Experience with IAM, OIDC, FGA, networking concepts, Linux tools, scripting, and modern security protocols preferred.
Experience with data modeling, data engineering, APIs, AI integration patterns, event-driven systems, middleware, and front-end architectures preferred.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Pulumi or Terraform preferred.
Relevant certifications such as Cloud Solution Architect, Azure AI Engineer, CISSP, or equivalent preferred.

Estimated Hiring Range:
At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $135,200.00 to $236,600.00.
This position is also incentive eligible.
