Fairview Hospital provides a comprehensive range of surgical services, including cardiothoracic, vascular, urology, colorectal, orthopedics, general, bariatric, breast, and cancer-related surgeries. In addition, the hospital offers advanced minimally invasive options such as single-port and robotic surgery that promote faster recovery, reduced pain, and smaller incisions, helping patients return to their lives more quickly. As an Assistant Nurse Manager on this team, you will assist fellow RNs, physicians and medical staff in providing the best possible healthcare experience. Your work will mainly focus on evaluating patient condition, improving unit policies, managing caregiver schedules and welcoming new nurses to the team.

A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., with rotating weekend requirements.
Weekend rotations vary based on department needs and are typically approximately once per month.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Support the Nurse Manager with supervising and supporting RNs and other nursing support caregivers.
Supervise admissions, conduct assessment of patient's needs and initiate nursing care plans.
Evaluate and document patient progress.
Facilitate the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit.
Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.
Serve as a liaison between the manager, caregivers and other areas within the organization.
Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit.
Prepare schedule of work assignments assuring adequate coverage.
Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives.
Assist in orienting new caregivers.
Participate in continuing education and in-service educational programs.
Assist in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment
Two years of recent RN experience
Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Perioperative experience
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
