About Our Opportunity
The Financial Service Delivery Branch/Operational Accounting has an opening that will provide the opportunity to apply your excellent financial expertise and client service in a setting that offers challenges and values collaborative teamwork and innovative thinking. Under the general direction of the Coordinator, Operational Accounting, the Accounting Clerk will be responsible for timely and accurate processing of financial documents.
Primary Accountabilities
-Process invoices, cheque requisitions, journal entries, travel expenses, etc.
-Ensure all financial transactions are in adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and comply with government policies and procedures.
-Verify documentation, signing authorities, tax codes and order numbers
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this opportunity, you have at least 4 years related experience. This includes:
Experience working with data entry, validation, and quality control processes.
Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Nova Scotia government financial policies and procedures, including accounting, tangible capital assets, travel, petty cash and procurement policies.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy along with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Proficiency with computer applications and information systems.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
The following would be considered assets:
Experience working with SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
Knowledge of government financial, operational, or asset management process
Applicants must clearly identify how they meet each of the stated qualifications.
