Senior Transport Planner

About the role 

School Infrastructure is delivering new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every school-aged child has access to high quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.   

Our team delivers integrated transport planning to support new and upgraded schools across NSW. Working collaboratively with project teams, government agencies and local councils, we develop safe, accessible and sustainable transport solutions for growing communities.

Primary purpose of the role

As the Senior Transport Planner, you'll play a key role in shaping transport outcomes for new and upgraded schools across NSW. Working on a diverse portfolio of projects, you'll provide expert transport planning advice, undertake technical analysis, and develop practical, evidence-based solutions that support safe, sustainable and integrated transport networks. Collaborating with specialists across government, you'll help deliver infrastructure that meets the needs of growing communities and improves access to education.

• Contribute to the transport planning for School Infrastructure projects, preparing transport assessments, travel plans and strategic advice that influence project outcomes.
• Provide expert technical advice on transport planning matters, ensuring solutions align with best practice, government policy and community needs.
• Analyse complex transport and land use issues using data, research and evidence to develop practical, integrated transport solutions.
• Work closely with planners, engineers, project teams, local councils and government agencies to deliver coordinated transport outcomes for school communities.
• Identify risks, monitor progress and ensure high-quality, timely delivery.
• Represent School Infrastructure in stakeholder meetings and working groups, building strong relationships and communicating transport planning outcomes with confidence.

About you  

• You have experience delivering transport planning projects and providing expert advice on transport and access issues.
• You enjoy analysing complex transport challenges and using data to develop practical, evidence-based solutions.
• You build strong relationships and work effectively with project teams, councils and government stakeholders.
• You're motivated by meaningful work and want to help deliver transport outcomes that improve access to schools and support growing communities.
• Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people. 

Essential requirements of the role

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant experience in Transport Engineering, Urban / Regional Planning. 
• Flexibility to travel to state-wide locations, as required.  
• A current and valid driver’s licence. 
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
