Caring for our city, creating a future for all

Our people are passionate about their communities and connected to their teams. They’re motivated by our genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion, and our clear, compelling plan for our global city: Sustainable Sydney 2030 – 2050 Continuing the Vision.

Be part of a purpose-led organisation with care at its core. You’ll make a difference by acting in the best interests of our communities and city. Be better together with collaborative and inclusive partnerships. Embrace possibilities and be open to new ideas and creating bold solutions.

About the role

The Property Services business unit has undergone a significant transformation over the past 18 months, establishing a new operating model to better manage one of Australia’s most diverse property portfolios. As part of this change, a dedicated Building Renewal team has been established to drive critical renewal investment across the City’s commercial, community and operational assets.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Delivery Manager – Building Renewal to lead this newly established team.

In this leadership role reporting to the Executive Manager Property Services, you will oversee a building renewal program exceeding $100 million across a portfolio of more than 270 buildings and 1,500 property interests. You will lead a team of Project Managers responsible for delivering a diverse range of renewal projects across key building disciplines, including electrical, HVAC, fire, hydraulic, vertical transport, interiors and building fabric assets.

This program supports the City of Sydney’s Strategic Plans and the service delivery needs of Business Units across the organisation.

In this exciting role you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and developing a team of Project Managers delivering building renewal programs.
  • Providing oversight of a building renewal portfolio exceeding $100 million.
  • Managing programme priorities, resources, risks and delivery performance.
  • Balancing planned renewal programs with emerging and unplanned works arising from an ageing and diverse asset portfolio.
  • Working with our delivery partners and stakeholders to minimise operational disruption and maintain service continuity during project delivery.
  • Driving a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.

To be successful you must have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, Construction or a related discipline.
  • Significant demonstrated experience leading building renewal, capital works or infrastructure delivery programs.
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience developing and managing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing contractors, consultants and complex stakeholder environments.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience in contract, governance, financial and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in complex operational environments.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.

The recommended applicant must complete a pre-employment health declaration and criminal history check.

Applications must be submitted online by 11:59pm, Thursday 09 July 2026.
