Full job description
You’re a future-focused leader who embraces and helps others adapt to change.
Here's your chance to design and deliver efficient, customer-focused services that also enhance accessibility, sustainability and overall quality of living for more people than you've imagined.
In this role, you'll:
Join the Rail Operations’ Planning & Performance team in this newly created leadership role and shape the future of rail services across NSW.
As Director Timetable Implementation & Assurance you’ll lead the successful implementation and assurance of Standard Working Timetables ensuring new and updated services are safe, reliable, operationally ready and able to be delivered effectively across the rail network.
Working at the centre of complex rail planning and operations, you will bring together passenger, freight and regional service requirements to ensure timetable outcomes are integrated, practical and aligned with customer and government priorities.
You'll provide expert advice on the operational impacts of timetable changes, guide assurance processes, and lead the assessment of readiness for new and revised timetables before they are introduced into service.
Provide expert technical leadership and advice on timetable operability, implementation risk, service planning and operational impacts.
You will also oversee timetable updates, timetable performance evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives, while building strong relationships across Sydney Trains, Transport for NSW and external stakeholders to support seamless timetable delivery.
Leading a team of specialist professionals, you'll foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and excellence while driving high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced and complex operational environment.
This is a rare opportunity to lead a critical function and influence how rail services are planned, assured and delivered for millions of customers across NSW.
This is a permanent role based on-site at the Rail Operations Centre in Alexandria with hybrid working available.
• Extensive experience in rail timetable implementation, assurance and operational readiness, including major network timetable changes and service introductions.
• Strong knowledge of rail operations, network planning, train pathing and timetable development within a complex transport environment.
• Strong understanding of operational readiness, assurance frameworks and risk management, with the ability to assess whether services can be delivered safely, reliably and efficiently across the network.
• Proven leadership and stakeholder management capabilities, with experience influencing senior executives and leading high-performing specialist teams.
