Position Function - Under the direction of the Director of Public Works and/or Designee, performs assigned duties necessary to support the streets and drainage division by managing the daily tasks of related crews for the proper maintenance, repair, and construction of streets and drainage systems. Position is a "working" lead position that has the authority to supervise and direct crews.

Responsible for the successful planning and completion of assigned projects. Duties include, but are not limited to: equipment and supply procurement, proper use and planning of equipment and materials, maintain workplace and work site safety, development of work orders, etc. Position is required to perform all duties assigned to the crew he/she leads to include, but not limited to: manual labor, heavy equipment operation, etc.

Environment
Duties are performed primarily within an outdoor environment or setting. Possible exposure to electrical and chemical hazards, water, sewage, vibrations, loud noise, inclement weather, dust, allergens, and mold.
Requirements/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Required knowledge and experience is normally obtained through the completion of a curriculum resulting in either a High School diploma or GED, and a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in Transportation, Construction or a related field is required.
One (1) year experience supervising multiple employees,preferred.
Valid State of Texas Class A CDL is required.
Ability to take verbal or written direction.
Ability to exercise substantial independent judgment and decision-making.
Ability to monitor and assess operations, workload, projects, and staff performance.
Ability to multi-task, evaluate, analyze, and execute with widely varied tasks involving many complex and significant variables.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, other Federal, State, and local governmental representatives, contractors, consultants, vendors, media, and the general.
Ability to exhibit attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
Ability to communicate and present oneself in a professional manner.
Ability to read and understand technical instructions, maps and schematics.
Thorough knowledge of construction methods, materials and practices with particular emphasis on transportation and/or utility construction and repair.
Must be able to work "on-call" hours.
Must be able to work outside normal business hours.
Must pass all post offer pre-employment processes and/or procedures, to include but not limited to Drug Screen, Physical Examination, and applicable Background Checks.
