Full job description
Diraq’s Export Controls & Global Trade Compliance Manager owns export control compliance for Diraq and will run Diraq’s export control and global trade framework for its U.S. and Australian subsidiaries. This U.S.-based role reports to Diraq’s Head of Legal & Compliance and is focused on ensuring compliance with the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and Australian Defence Export Controls (DEC / DSGL) and encompasses obligations under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) where applicable, particularly in the context of dual-use and AUKUS export control environments. The role combines hands-on execution with ownership of the export control compliance program
Approximately 6–8 years of experience in global trade compliance and export controls within a business environment.
Strong working knowledge of U.S. export controls, including the ITAR and EAR, together with practical familiarity with OFAC, and Australian Defence Export Controls.
Experience implementing, operating, or improving trade compliance processes across multiple jurisdictions, preferably in a technology, semiconductor, research, defense-adjacent, or other highly regulated environment.
Ability to interpret complex regulations and provide practical, risk-based guidance to technical, program, and business stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to manage documentation and process requirements with a high degree of accuracy.
Proactive communicator who can build collaborative relationships and operate effectively in a dynamic environment supporting multiple programs and stakeholders.
Eligibility to be appointed as an Empowered Official.
Awareness of dual-use export control processes and the AUKUS export control environment, including technology-sharing and releasability considerations across allied jurisdictions.
Own day-to-day export control operations across Diraq, ensuring compliance with applicable U.S. and Australian requirements, including the EAR, ITAR, and Australian Defence Export Controls.
Manage Diraq’s export control and global trade compliance framework for its U.S. and Australian subsidiaries, including consistent policies, procedures, controls, and escalation pathways.
Manage compliance activities relating to exports, re-exports, technology transfers, deemed exports, foreign person access, and access to controlled technical information across Diraq’s operations in the U.S. and Australia.
Support export classification and trade data reviews, including ECCN assessments, and maintain documentation to support the compliant export and transfer of hardware, software, and technical information.
Prepare, submit, implement, and manage export authorizations, including licenses, Technical Assistance Agreements, Manufacturing License Agreements, permits, exemptions, exceptions, and related recordkeeping requirements.
Perform Empowered Official responsibilities where appointed, including reviewing and approving license applications and providing regulatory interpretation.
Partner with program teams and cross-functional stakeholders to identify compliance risks early, develop export licensing strategies, and embed compliant processes into operational workflows.
Review and approve exports of hardware, software, technical data, and controlled technology, including dual-use items and transfers within the AUKUS export control framework.
Conduct trade compliance training for relevant personnel, including license scope, technology control, and handling of export-controlled information.
Maintain audit-ready compliance files, reconcile licenses, approve foreign visit requests, and support continuous improvement of trade compliance processes.
