Our values show who we are at our best. As we Create with Collaboration, Serve with Integrity, Grow with Excellence, and Advance with Innovation.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Field Service Technician to provide advanced technical support to customers and lead complex field service assignments. This role is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment while serving as a technical resource to customers and other field service technicians.
The Senior Field Service Technician works with limited supervision and is expected to independently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues. This position also plays an important role in mentoring less experienced technicians, supporting new product introductions, and identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and service delivery.
On a given day, you may:
Lead complex field service assignments involving the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment.
Diagnose and resolve complex and unusual technical issues using advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to less experienced field service technicians.
Train field service personnel on advanced troubleshooting techniques, safety requirements, equipment operation, and best practices.
Perform equipment commissioning, validation, start-up, and new product introduction activities.
Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Customer Support, and other internal teams to resolve escalated technical issues.
Communicate directly with customers to understand technical concerns, provide updates, and ensure issues are resolved effectively.
Complete detailed documentation of service activities, troubleshooting performed, root causes, parts used, and recommendations for corrective action or improvement.
Identify recurring equipment or service issues and recommend improvements to increase reliability and customer satisfaction.
Support warranty investigations, equipment reliability initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety policies, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.
Maintain tools, test equipment, and service vehicles in safe and optimal working condition.
Follow established technical processes, procedures, and methodologies while exercising sound judgment when addressing new or atypical assignments.
Work independently with limited supervision, seeking additional support when dealing with highly complex or unfamiliar situations.
Serve as an informal technical resource and subject matter expert for junior technicians and other team members.
Travel to customer locations as required to support installations, service calls, commissioning, troubleshooting, and other field service needs.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree, associate degree, or specialized technical training preferred.
5+ years of experience in field service, industrial equipment, manufacturing, electrical/mechanical systems, or a related technical field.
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or automated equipment.
Ability to independently diagnose complex technical problems and determine appropriate solutions.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings and schematics.
Strong understanding of equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong documentation and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with customers and internal teams.
Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced technicians.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively to customer locations.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with industrial automation, controls, PLCs, VFDs, servo systems, or other automated equipment.
Experience with food processing, packaging, or industrial manufacturing equipment.
Experience with equipment commissioning and validation.
Experience troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical systems.
Specialized technical certifications or licenses.
Experience supporting new product introductions or equipment development.
Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled technician who enjoys solving complex problems, working directly with customers, and helping other technicians succeed. You should be comfortable working independently in the field and confident making technical decisions when faced with challenging or unfamiliar situations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technician who wants to take the next step in their career by becoming a technical leader and subject matter expert without necessarily moving into a traditional management role.
The estimated hourly pay range for this role is $30.00 - $35.00 an hour. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience.
We are committed to our employees and will provide you with development and opportunities to allow you to be the best version of yourself at work, at home, and in your community.
