About Us
Born in 1935 in Fort Worth, Texas, Standard Meat has grown into a trusted global meat supplier, providing custom meat processing, portioning, cooking, and packaging solutions for leading foodservice brands, retail and e-commerce partners, and meal-kit companies. Family-owned for four generations, we've built our success on staying true to our core values: Integrity, Care, Determination, Scrappiness, and Celebration — with deep gratitude for our team members, our partners, and our community. We take pride in being a great place to work.
The Rosenthal family name behind Standard Meat is closely tied to the Rosenthal Meat Science and Technology Center at Texas A&M University, named for Manny Rosenthal, class of '42, whose father founded Standard Meat. The Center is a leading research institution in food safety, beef quality assurance, and meat science education, and many of our executives and managers hold advanced degrees in meat science from Texas A&M.
Today, we operate multiple plants across the DFW Metroplex, remaining dedicated to our Texas roots and to the growth of our community.
Purpose: To inspire the connections and breakthroughs that ultimately feed our life.
Our Core Values:
Integrity – Standing by your word no matter what.
Care – Creating moments of genuine connection and support.
Determination – Going the extra mile to deliver excellence.
Scrappiness – Tackling problems in clever and resourceful ways.
Celebration – Acknowledging others’ strengths and accomplishments.
Our Summer Internship Program gives students hands-on experience in our processing facilities located in Dallas, Fort Worth, Saginaw, and Ponder. Interns can focus in Research and Development, Food Safety and Quality Assurance, Production and Operations, Engineering, Information Technology, or Supply Chain.
Interns work daily in the facilities to understand process flow and production capabilities, build a deeper understanding of the food industry, and contribute to meaningful projects that are essential to the company's short- and long-term success. Along the way, they'll have the opportunity to interact directly with upper management, outside vendors, and customers.
We're looking for motivated self-starters who can work independently, manage their time well, and juggle multiple priorities, with strong interpersonal skills to match. Our interview process is rigorous, but we hope it's an enjoyable one for candidates who are excited about building a career in the meat industry.
When: May - August, 2027
Location: Texas - Dallas, Fort Worth, Ponder, & Saginaw
Compensation: Hourly wage plus a monthly stipend for living expenses
Education & Experience Requirements
Actively working toward at least a Bachelor's degree in Animal, Meat or Food Science, or a related program at an accredited university
Previous meat handling or processing experience is a plus
Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Experience that demonstrates high achievement, motivation, and the ability to be a self-starter (this experience can be through education, work, or extracurricular activities)
Application Process
The application period is open through Friday, October 16, 2026. Please complete the following two steps at your earliest convenience before the deadline.
Upload your resume and respond to the application questions below.
Complete a 4-minute video interview. The video interview consists of four questions and allows up to one minute for each response. You may record the responses on your own time on any device that has a webcam and microphone. You'll be able to think about how you'd like to answer before you begin recording and you can re-record responses as many times as you'd like. We'll only see the responses you submit. Please follow this link to begin the video interview: 4-minute video
Once we receive both your application responses and your 4-minute video interview, we will share your information with the Internship Program Committee for review.
If you are eligible to move forward, we will reach out to schedule an introductory call, at which time we will provide you with more information about the program. Then, if you are selected to interview, we will reach out to schedule a 30-minute video interview with several members of the Internship Program Committee. We will conduct interviews during October and November and we plan to extend offers to the finalists before Thanksgiving.
Thank you for your interest in our internship program! We look forward to getting to know you.
Please note, all applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without a requirement for employment sponsorship.
