We are currently looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer for a 100% remote position on a large federal government project. In this role, you will support the design, development, and delivery of secure, scalable, and mission-critical healthcare applications that support federal modernization initiatives. You will work within a collaborative Agile environment alongside software engineers, architects, business analysts, QA engineers, DevOps professionals, and product teams while leveraging modern technologies including Java, Spring Boot, Node.js/TypeScript, React, AWS, and AI-enabled solutions.
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Java, Java EE, Java 17, Spring Boot, Node.js/TypeScript, and React or Angular.
Architect and implement secure, cloud-native, event-driven microservices and RESTful APIs utilizing AWS services including Aurora PostgreSQL, ECS, SQS, and S3.
Develop AI-enabled solutions by integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI APIs into enterprise healthcare applications while evaluating emerging AI technologies and best practices.
Build reliable backend services, optimize database performance, and ensure application scalability, security, and maintainability through sound engineering principles.
Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and DevOps best practices to deliver high-quality software in a regulated environment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions while supporting Agile development processes and maintaining technical documentation.
Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
Minimum of six (6) years of professional software engineering experience.
Proven experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer with technical leadership responsibilities.
Experience designing and developing distributed, cloud-native applications using modern software architecture principles.
Experience integrating AI or Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities into enterprise applications.
Experience working within Agile software development environments.
Strong proficiency with Java, Java EE, Java 17, and Spring Framework.
Experience developing applications using Node.js, TypeScript, React, or Angular.
Experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including Aurora PostgreSQL, ECS, SQS, and S3.
Experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Knowledge of secure software development practices and modern DevOps methodologies.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to mentor software engineers and provide technical leadership.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Additional Qualifications
Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) programs or other federal government agencies.
Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR and HL7.
Experience working within regulated healthcare environments.
Experience with intelligent automation, AI orchestration frameworks, or agent-based systems.
Professional certifications in AWS, Java, Agile, or related technologies are preferred.
Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Public Trust or other required security clearance.
