| Role Description: |
The Occupational Safety and Health Program Specialist provides administrative, technical, and programmatic support for DC Water’s Occupational Safety & Health initiatives, including industrial hygiene, hazardous materials management, and fire & life safety programs. This position supports the coordination, implementation, and tracking of safety programs and assists in ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, EPA, and NFPA requirements.

Key Working Relationships: Key working relationships are with the Operations Safety Manager, Program Managers, Safety Specialists, operational personnel across DC Water, and external agencies such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and District Department of Energy and Environment (Washington, D.C.) as needed.

| Subject to indoor and/or outdoor conditions that include exposure to extreme cold and/or hot temperatures. |

| May be required to lift and carry equipment to and from training sites. |
May be required to stand and walk for long periods in the performance of the normal duties. |
The duties of this position may require working varied hours throughout the day and working emergency duty hours. |
This position is required to work a varied work schedule, which will include nighttime hours to visit DC Water facilities and jobsites to conduct inspections, assessments, and investigations. |
Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided to ensure the safety of the employees. This may include, but is not limited to gloves, safety glasses, shoes, earplugs or muffs, hard hats, respirators, or coveralls, vests, and full body suits.
