Position Overview
The Area Commercial Manager/Deputy Project Manager will partner and collaborate with Project Managers to oversee contracts, manage change processes, and provide support across multiple business groups. This role requires strong organizational skills, confident writing skills, and the ability to manage various priorities among teams. The Area Commercial Manager/Deputy Project Manager will drive proactive marketing support for higher-risk projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and risk mitigation efforts.
Primary Responsibilities
Partner with Project Managers to administer contracts and drive successful change management.
Prepare weekly and monthly reports.
Produce and transmit project documentation.
Draft contract summaries for business groups and PMs.
Drive loss prevention
Attending Marketing Meeting to support Risk management and Risk Mitigation for high-profile projects.
Perform data analysis and tracking for commercial performance.
Monitor risk management activities and maintain risk registers.
Develop, store, and communicate documentation for project startup, execution, and close-out.
Create a client profile based on the history of risk and losses
Ability to concisely explain and present complex contractual issues to Executive leadership, along with a proposed solution to manage the contract over time.
Collaborate across multiple business groups.
Circulate and update risk registers.
Participate in monthly Area project Reviews and Critical Project Reviews
Follow up on risk action items.
Contract Management
Monitor compliance with contractual obligations.
Assist in preparing subcontracts.
Draft and process change orders in collaboration with technical teams.
Support contract close-out activities.
Maintain master contract organization within the area.
Organize and deliver training for change management and contract administration.
Demonstrate commercial awareness and strategic mindset.
Coordinate effectively with diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Design build experience
Ability to do low code programming is a plus (e.g. QuickBase)
Experience in claims which may include claims defense, claim production, claim negotiation/resolution, and claim prevention
Experience and/or working knowledge of negotiation of contracts for architecture/engineering projects

A minimum of 3 years' experience in Architecture/ Engineering, Design-Build, P3, project management, or project controls environment
Entry level positions are possible with a bachelor's degree in architecture, business, law or equivalent
Ability to work well in a high performing team structure in a fast-paced environment
Self-starter; good communication and people skills
Must be committed to quality and improvement and promoting HDR's values
