Position Summary
Our coaches are actively engaged in the San Francisco Bayview Hunters Point community, and embrace the mission and values ofKIPP San Francisco College Preparatory. The Head Coach is to be responsible for coaching, character development andproviding direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as anappreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in that sport. This is a seasonal, temporary rolereporting to the Athletic Director.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience/Education/Licensing:
2 to 3 years of High School or Club Soccer coaching experience required
High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred)
Valid CA license (Class C) and current insurance coverage
Safe driving record (will be ask to provide a DMV report)
Knowledge/skills required/abilities:
Ability to follow and uphold the policies and mission statement of KIPP SFCP.
All school coaches should be familiar with the rules and regulations of the sports they areassigned to coach
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators,students, parents, and community members
Ability to manage a class in a professional manner
Flexible, reliable, punctual, professional and has an enthusiastic approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively via email andphone.
Access to reliable transportation throughout the Bay Area.
Ability to work independently and within a small team
Ability to coach athletes of different skill levels
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Coaching
Plan, organize, and direct the particular and assigned team.
Instruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and teamdevelopment.
Ensure that team rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility of the athletes areclearly communicated and followed.
Plan, organize, advertise, and conduct tryouts for the particular sports program; inform theAthletic Department and participants of final selections. Maintain the integrity of the selectionprocess.
Consult with the Athletic Director regarding any off-season training programs includingscheduling dates for summer camps/practices, uniform fitting, pre-post tryout informationalparent meetings.
Create a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, andemotional development of students.
Supervise athletes at all times during practices, transport to games, games and until athleteshave been picked up by guardians, or make arrangements to ride public transportation. ● Model good sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards the opposingteam, fans, parents, officials, spectators and community.
Training
Complete required safety training for basic first aid and injury prevention availablethrough SafeSchools and NFHS Learn, including, but not limited to:
At time of hire - Fundamentals of Coaching or certificate of completion in a previoussports season
Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands
Physical:
Ability to navigate office and school campuses, and hold meetings in different spaces. Traditionally,much of the day involves sitting. Ability to access and utilize technology. Occasional lifting/carryingof equipment 20 -40 lbs.
Mental:
Stress of deadlines and normal work standards, ability to analyze problems and generatealternatives, work with interruptions, concentrate for long periods of time, read, calculate, performroutine math problems, memorize and recall objects and people.
Environmental:
Gym or field environment will usually contain both participants and spectators. Frequent travel(50%-70%) to gyms and fields throughout the Bay Area. Location of gyms and fields in San Franciscowill vary. Adhere to KIPP’s health and safety guidelines as outlined by the CDC, CDE, and public healthagencies’ recommendations.

Seasonal, Part-time, non-exempt hourly position that is based on a school calendar and time-offschedule.
