Responsibilities
The role involves synthesizing research and business signals to develop mental models and guidance on how AI impacts workforce design and operating models. You will partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to address workforce implications and translate insights into actionable decision frameworks.
Requirements
Candidates must have 10+ years of experience in HR specialist or generalist roles with a strong background in organizational design and stakeholder management. Proficiency in handling ambiguous challenges and translating complex research into practical guidance is essential.
Full job description
Amazon’s Future of Work team helps Amazon understand and act on how AI is changing work at the team and organization level. Our team identifies emerging workforce design patterns, tests them against research and field evidence, and translates what we learn into guidance that helps People Experience and Technology (PXT) practitioners and senior leaders make better decisions as they redesign work.
In this role, you will synthesize emerging evidence into mental models, guidance, and decision support that make connections across the broader workforce system visible. When questions emerge about how AI is changing work, roles, teams, or workforce needs, you will assess the implications for workforce planning, talent management, and related systems; clarify the decisions and tradeoffs involved; and partner with the accountable teams to address them. You will also connect these mental models and qualitative signals to quantitative evidence and scientific inquiry, partnering with teams responsible for measurement and research to frame testable questions and inform their roadmaps.
You will apply deep organization design and transformation judgment to ambiguous questions in an emerging and fast-moving field. You will distinguish established findings from promising but unproven practices, develop guidance calibrated to the available evidence, and influence senior leaders and partner teams through clear reasoning rather than direct authority.
Key job responsibilities Synthesize research, case studies, practitioner questions, and business signals to identify patterns in how AI is changing roles, team composition, workflows, decision rights, and operating models.
Develop and evolve mental models, guidance, and decision frameworks that establish a coherent point of view on AI-enabled work redesign and help senior leaders and PXT practitioners make informed decisions as evidence evolves.
Identify implications across interconnected workforce and talent systems, and partner with accountable teams to frame emerging issues, tensions, dependencies, and decision points.
Use case studies, learning forums, leader engagements, and practitioner feedback to identify recurring questions and patterns; translate those signals into broader insights and ensure guidance is accurately reflected in the materials and tools used by practitioners.
Identify gaps in the evidence base and partner with teams responsible for measurement and research to translate emerging mental models and qualitative signals into testable questions, relevant measures, and priorities for further study.
Basic Qualifications:
- 10+ years of HR specialist, HR generalist (e.g., HR Business Partner or HR Partner), HR manager, or HR program experience - Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization - Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem solving abilities - Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities - Experience in organizational design
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AI-enabled work redesign or other technology-driven changes to roles, teams, and operating models. - Track record of developing organization design frameworks, workforce guidance, or practitioner decision tools that have been adopted across multiple organizations. - Experience using generative AI tools to support research, synthesis, scenario analysis, or development of organizational guidance, including validation of output quality and responsible handling of confidential information. - Experience working across workforce planning, performance management, talent programs and processes, and related people systems. - Experience translating research, field evidence, and emerging practices into guidance for HRBPs and senior business leaders. - Advanced degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, business, or a related field.
