Requirements
Candidates should have 2-5 years of experience in a geospatial or data analytics role with proficiency in GIS software like ArcGIS or QGIS. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for interpreting complex spatial datasets.
Full job description
About the role
Data and analytics are transforming how transport systems are planned, managed and operated. Our Geospatial and Data Analytics team helps clients make better decisions by combining spatial analysis, data science and compelling visualisation to answer complex questions.
We work across the transport sector, supporting local authorities, government agencies, infrastructure providers and private sector clients. Our work ranges from accessibility and connectivity analysis, transport modelling, bespoke GIS analysis, through to interactive dashboards, web mapping applications and strategic data insight and storytelling.
We are looking for someone with around 2–5 years' experience who enjoys solving problems with data and wants to develop their consulting skills while working on a wide variety of transport and infrastructure projects. Our salary on offer is in the range of £35,000 to £45,000 depending on location and experience.
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Consultant / Consultant in our Geospatial and Data Analytics team you will:
Deliver geospatial analysis using GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online or QGIS.
Analyse and interpret transport, demographic and spatial datasets to generate meaningful insight.
Develop maps, dashboards and interactive visualisations that help clients understand complex information.
Support the design and delivery of digital tools and web mapping applications.
Work collaboratively with transport planners, economists, engineers and data specialists across multidisciplinary project teams.
Help improve the efficiency of our analytical workflows through automation and innovative ways of working.
Present findings clearly through reports, presentations and client workshops.
Build relationships with clients and contribute to business development opportunities.
What we're looking for
We're interested in people who are naturally curious, enjoy analysing data and want to help clients solve real-world transport challenges. You'll ideally have:
Essential
Around 2–5 years' experience in a geospatial, GIS or data analytics role.
Experience using ArcGIS (Desktop/Pro/Online) or QGIS.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience working with spatial and non-spatial datasets.
The ability to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
Experience producing high-quality maps and visualisations.
A proactive approach and willingness to learn new tools and techniques and be able to teach others
Desirable
Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:
An understanding of transport data or experience working within the transport sector.
ArcGIS Experience Builder, Dashboards or StoryMaps.
Power BI or other dashboarding tools.
Data processing and analysis using Excel, SQL or Python.
Automation of analytical workflows.
Working with transport datasets such as Census, GTFS, public transport, active travel or traffic data.
Knowledge of cloud-based GIS platforms and online mapping.
An interest in AI and emerging analytical technologies.
What will help you succeed
You'll thrive in this role if you:
Enjoy making sense of complex datasets.
Can identify patterns and tell compelling stories using data.
Are organised and able to manage multiple projects.
Have excellent attention to detail.
Enjoy working collaboratively and sharing ideas.
Are keen to continually develop your technical and consulting skills.
Take ownership of your work and look for opportunities to improve how things are done.
Why join our team?
You'll be joining a growing Geospatial and Data Analytics team that works across the UK and internationally on some of the transport sector's most interesting challenges. You'll have opportunities to:
Work with a wide variety of clients and projects.
Develop expertise across GIS, analytics and digital products.
Learn from experienced consultants and technical specialists.
