Build the Future of Autonomous Driving Simulate the Future of Autonomous Driving
At Five AI, we’re building platforms, simulation environments and AI tooling that power the next generation of intelligent systems. Today, our work helps advance autonomous driving. Tomorrow, we’re creating scalable technologies that will accelerate robotics, embodied AI and future intelligent systems across Bosch. We’re not building one-off solutions - we’re building products that enable engineers to develop, train and evaluate AI faster, more safely and at greater scale. Joining Five means working in agile, empowered teams where you’ll solve complex engineering challenges, take ownership of meaningful work and build technology with global impact.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll build cutting-edge tools and systems that help engineers develop, run and evaluate simulation and AI workflows at scale.
You’ll join a multidisciplinary engineering team working across simulation tooling, developer workflows, distributed systems and AI-enabled engineering platforms. The work is varied, so we’re looking for someone who is comfortable picking up new languages, tools and domains where needed to solve the problem in front of them. Working closely with Product Managers, Scientists and Engineers, you’ll build technology, tools and platforms that support autonomous driving today while helping create the foundations for the next generation of intelligent systems across Bosch.
We’re looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges, are excited by AI and machine learning, and thrive in an environment where learning new technologies is part of the job.
Essential
Strong software engineering experience with proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Python, Java,C++or similar.
Confidence working across different languages, tools and technology stacks, with the ability to learn what is needed to solve the problem.
A solid understanding of software engineering principles, including architecture, testing, code review and maintainable system design.
Experience designing and developing reliable software systems, applications or developer-facing tools.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and engineering workflows using tools such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI .
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to balance technical excellence and pragmatic delivery.
A willingness to get stuck into unfamiliar problems, ask good questions and learn quickly.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience working in cross-functional engineering teams.
A growth mindset and enthusiasm for learning new technologies and solving challenging engineering problems.
Desirable
Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration technologies.
Experience with at least one cloud platform such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
Familiarity with AI or machine learning technologies, or software systems that support AI and ML workflows.
Experience building developer platforms, internal tooling or large-scale data platforms.
Knowledge of observability, monitoring and performance optimisation for distributed systems.
Design and build software tools, services and workflows used by engineering teams.
Work across languages, frameworks and systems depending on the problem being solved.
Build reliable, maintainable and observable systems that support simulation and AI development workflows.
Collaborate with Product Managers,Engineers, Scientists to turn requirements into new capabilities.
Develop CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling and engineering workflows.
Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews and engineering best practices.
Investigate and solve complex technical challenges across our platforms and tooling.
Take ownership of features from design through development, deployment and continuous improvement.
Evaluate new technologies that improve the capability, performance, scalability and reliability of our platforms and tools.
Innovation at Speed Work in agile, empowered teams that rapidly turn ambitious ideas into real-world AI products and platforms.
Global Impact Build technology that scales across Bosch - supporting autonomous driving today while helping enable the intelligent systems of tomorrow.
Startup Agility. Global Scale. Experience the pace, ownership and innovation of a technology company while creating products that reach engineers across one of the world’s leading engineering organisations.
Cutting-Edge Engineering Work on cloud platforms, simulation technologies, AI tooling and distributed systems that accelerate the future of intelligent systems.
Growth & Development Learn from exceptional engineers, take ownership of meaningful work and grow your career in a culture built on curiosity, collaboration and continuous learning.
Our Culture We’re curious engineers who enjoy solving difficult problems together. We value clean, maintainable code, thoughtful testing and pragmatic delivery. We favour incremental improvements over long development cycles and believe delivering value is more important than pursuing perfection. Everyone contributes to DevOps. Everyone owns quality. Everyone has the opportunity to influence architecture, tooling and engineering practices. We’re collaborative, supportive and always learning - sharing knowledge, exploring new technologies and continuously improving the way we build software.
Diversity & Inclusion At Five AI, we know that diverse perspectives lead to better ideas and better technology. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences and identities. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement, we’d still encourage you to apply.
Build What’s Next Join Five AI and help create the platforms, tools and technologies that will power the next generation of intelligent systems. From autonomous driving to robotics and beyond, you’ll work alongside exceptional engineers to solve meaningful technical challenges and build products with lasting global impact.
Five is building self-driving software components and development platforms to help autonomy programs solve the industry’s greatest challenges.
In doing so, we will help turn today’s promising engineering systems into tomorrow’s trusted mobility solutions and improve the lives of millions of people, in countless ways.
We’ve learnt a lot from successfully building our own high-functioning, complete self-driving system and testing it on London’s public roads. We now define our mission in two ways:
1. Deliver advanced online components that address the most under-solved challenges in self-driving systems.
2. Build a modular, cloud-based platform that delivers performance and scale for system development and assurance.
To make this a reality, we’re looking for creative problem-solvers and practical doers from a range of backgrounds in areas such as software engineering, robotics, machine learning, computer vision, AI, mathematics, control engineering, software assurance, simulation, verification and motor sport.
We welcome people from all backgrounds, at all levels. If you’re talented, ambitious, and want to build the future with an incredibly smart, friendly, creative and inclusive team, we’d love to hear from you.
